WHAT IS POETRY?What is the purpose? What does it express?

Can it tell a story? Or is it just structure or

an emotional mess?

ELEMENTS OF POETRY

Structure - The way the words, lines and groups of lines of a poem are arranged.

Lines - Grouping of words. A line may not be a complete sentence. A poem may break, or end, a line to emphasize a word or an idea, or to create a pattern of rhythm or rhyme.

ELEMENTS OF POETRY

Stanzas - Lines may be grouped in stanzas; logical sections of ideas, like paragraphs in an essay.

Rhyme - The rhyme scheme is the pattern of rhymes at the ends of lines. Each new rhyme is assigned a letter of the alphabet.
