Idols of the tribes

•Natural weakness & tendencies common to human nature.

Idols of the Caves

•Arises from our own presumption and prejudices.

Idols of the Theatre

•Arises from the authoritative & dogmatic character of tradition.

Idols of the

market place

• The most troublesome of all idols, w/c have crept into the understanding through the alliances of words & names.
