In the case of a general purpose terminal block, common and power supply terminal blocks are not supplied as shown below, making it necessary to purchase them separately. Labor is also required for assembly.
In the case of the PC wiring system terminal block unit, it is only necessary to purchase one piece and nothing else is required. (It is also compact, and the PLC manufacturer's address is stated directly on the label.)

Commonality achieved with branch unit The branch unit separates each PLC manufacturer's 32 point I/O into a 16 point common pin layout.
Conversion to a common pin layout makes it possible to connect the pin layout to SMC manifold solenoid valves and other manufacturers' relay equipment without even thinking about it.
Power can be supplied to the PLC's I/O unit.
Compatible branch units are available for each PLC manufacturer's I/O.
Simple parallel type Unlike serial transmission, there is no need to worry about transmission delay time.
Visually and sensually easy to understand, maintenance is easy for start-up, debugging and trouble shooting.
Improved wiring efficiency and ease of handling Reduced wiring equivalent to a serial transmission system can be attained with a special cable.
The single block pressure connection system using a connector allows standardization of wiring work, prevents miswiring and greatly improves work efficiency.

Connection cable The special cable with power supply line consists of a flat cable and power supply lines enclosed in a

HI/LO setting(8 point input/output unit) Since most PLC manufacturers use 16 points of input/output in units of one channel, 8 point input/output units can be connected in a series of two units. In this case, either the “Lo” 0 to 7 or “Hi” 8 to F address can be selected by means of these jumpers (short-circuit sockets). To select the “Lo” side address the “Lo” side is shorted. It is set to the “Lo” side when shipped from the factory.
Note) When two 8 point input/output units are used in a cascade connection, set the jumpers (short-circuit sockets) so that the jumpers (short-circuit sockets) of both units are not set to the same address (i.e., not “Lo” and “Lo” or Hi” and “Hi”).(Trouble will occur during input due to the activation of OR circuits for two sensors.)Use caution, because incorrect connection of input and output for 8 point or 16 point input/output units following the branch unit, will cause short-circuiting of the power supply.

Note 4) Indicate regulator unit mounting stations in the specification table.Count as unit 1, station 1.
Note 5) Refer to the separate catalog CAT.E138-A for details when equipped with ejector unit. Also, "-J" and name plate "-N" cannot be combined.
Note 6) Be sure to indicate wiring specifications in the manifold specification table.
Note 7) In case of an external pilot "R", indicate external pilot specifications "R" for the applicable valve also.

These safety instructions are intended to prevent a hazardous situation and/or equipment damage. These instructions indicate the level of potential hazard by a label of "Caution", "Warning" or "Danger". To ensure safety, be sure to observe ISO 4414 Note 1), JIS B 8370 Note 2) and other safety practices.
1. The compatibility of pneumatic equipment is the responsibility of the person who designs the pneumatic system or decides its specifications.Since the products specified here are used in various operating conditions, their compatibility for the specific pneumatic system must be based on specifications or after analysis and/or tests to meet your specific requirements.
2. Only trained personnel should operate pneumatically operated machinery and equipment.Compressed air can be dangerous if handled incorrectly. Assembly, handling or repair of pneumatic systems should be performed by trained and experienced operators.
3. Do not service machinery/equipment or attempt to remove components until safety is confirmed.
1. Inspection and maintenance of machinery/equipment should only be performed after confirmation of safe locked-out control positions.
2. When equipment is to be removed, confirm the safety process as mentioned above. Cut the supply pressure for this equipment and exhaust all residual compressed air in the system.
3. Before machinery/equipment is restarted, take measures to prevent shooting-out of cylinder piston rod, etc. (Bleed air into the system gradually to create back pressure.)
4. Contact SMC if the product is to be used in any of the following conditions:1. Conditions and environments beyond the given specifications, or if product is used outdoors.2. Installation on equipment in conjunction with atomic energy, railway, air navigation, vehicles, medical
equipment, food and beverages, recreation equipment, emergency stop circuits, press applications, or safety equipment.
3. An application which has the possibility of having negative effects on people, property, or animals, requiring special safety analysis.

1. This product is intended for use in general FA equipment. Avoid using this product in machinery or equipment which directly affects human lives or where malfunction or failure can cause extended damage.
2. Do not disassemble this product for repair or rebuilding.
1. Never use in an atmosphere of explosive gas-es.PC wiring system construction is not explosion proof. Never use in an atmosphere with explosive gases as this may cause a serious explosion.
2. Do not use in an environment with tempera-ture cycles.If PC wiring system units are used in locations with temperature cycles other than normal temperature changes, they may be adversely affected.
3. Do not use in an area where surges are gen-erated.When there is machinery or equipment (solenoid type lifter, high frequency induction furnace, motor, etc.) which generates a large amount of surge in the area around PC wiring system units and connected equipment, there is a danger of deteriora-tion or damage to the connected equipment. Take measures to protect against sources of surge generation and be careful of crossed lines.
4. Do not allow wiring scraps or other foreign matter to get into the terminal areas of this product.Do not allow wiring scraps or other foreign matter to get into the terminal areas of the PC wiring system units, as this can cause fire, failure or malfunction, etc.
5. Consider the operating environment and en-closure.Avoid use of PC wiring system units in locations where there is splash and spray of water or oil, etc.
1. Confirm the specifications.Use properly after confirming the specifications. Operation outside the range of specifications (voltage, ambient temperature, impact, etc.) can cause damage, malfunction or fire.
2. Ensure sufficient clearance for maintenance activities.When designing an application, be sure to allow sufficient clearance for maintenance and inspections.
1. Do not drop or bump.Do not drop, bump or apply excessive impacts (500m/s² or more) during handling. The PC wiring system unit can be dam-aged and connected equipment may malfunction.
2. Be careful of incorrect wiring.Incorrect wiring may result in damage to connected equipment. The power supply will be short circuited if inputs and outputs are connected incorrectly for the 8 point/16 point input/output units following a branch unit.
3. Do not wire with power lines or high voltage lines.To prevent the intrusion of noise and surge from power and high voltage lines into signal lines, perform wiring for the PC wiring system separately (separate conduits) from power lines and high voltage lines.
4. Confirm proper insulation of wiring.Faulty insulation (crossed wiring, insulation defects between terminals, etc.) may result in damage to connected equipment, due to the application of excessive voltage or current flowing to the equipment.
5. Tighten screws with the proper tightening torque.If tightened beyond the tightening torque range, the terminal block and screws may be damaged.
6. Avoid subjecting cables to repeated bending or pulling forces.Wiring installations which result in repeated bending stress and pulling force on cables can cause broken wires.
7. Note that the disposition of I/O addresses dif-fers for each PLC manufacturer.General purpose label sets (applicable to all manufacturers) are included, which can be cut as needed and inserted into the ter-minal label holders.
8. Operate within the rated current.The maximum current capacity for the power supply line on cir-cuit boards of all units is 2.0A. If the current passing through units such as the branch unit and input/output unit exceeds 2.0A, connect the power supply line to the same power supply terminal and do not allow current to pass through the circuit board.
