Conference–withthankstoJillWibberley“I first attended a lipoedema conference in 2015 and enjoyed it somuch Ibooked for the 2017 conference in Birmingham. Due to the kindness of awonderful family Iwasable togobymeansofa lift, as Iamunable tousepublictransport.WearrivedonFriday17thMarchattheHolidayInnwheretheconferencewasheld.NextdaywasthestartoftheconferenceandIwaslookedaftersowell.MaryandJuliefromPhysiopodarrangedacomfortablearmchairformewithafootstoolsoIcouldhavemylegsupmostofthetime.BecauseofmylipoedemamylegsareverylargeandheavyandIneededhelptoputthemupandalsotogetthemdown.ThereweremanylovelypeopletohelpmeincludingMaryandJulieplusadelightfulyoungman,DalivorSvec,fromacompressioncompanycalledLipoelastic.HepoppedinnowandagaintoaskifIneededanything;soverykindofhim.

During the conference we heardmany speakers all very knowledgeable intheirfieldfromallcornersoftheUKandfromothercountriesandIfounditvery refreshing thatallwerewilling to share theirexpertisewitheveryone.One speaker from theNetherlands even rememberedme from the previousconference.

IsatoutofoneofthetalksandMaryandJulietreatedmytenniselbowandmysoreshoulder,whichwasverybeneficial.Wehadgreatworkshops,whichtaught me the correct way to treat my lipoedema. Unfortunately I wasn'tabletoswim,asthepoolwasnotsuitableformydisability.

FashionShowOntheSaturdayeveningIwasfortunatetobe inthefashionshowandwastaught how to domake up correctly and also hadmy hair done. I wore awhitelacytopandstripedtrouserswithajauntylittlehatandalacyshawl.Not an outfit I would have chosen myself but it showed me I could wearattractiveclothesand lookgood in them. I liked themsomuch Ipurchasedthem! Imusthave lookedokas themembersall clappedquite loudly. Theother ladies in theshowlooked fabuloustoo.Sundaywasmoreof thesamewithgreatspeakersandworkshops.Mealswereprovidedforthetwodays.Imustmention theTrusteesand the steering committee for theirhardworkand organising skills. Everything went so smoothly without a hitch and Iknowhowdifficultitistogeleverythingtogether.TheywerefantasticandIcan'twaitforthenextone.”
