A participle is a word formed from a verb and mainly used as an adjective.

There are three types of Participles.

They are:V3 form of the verb (past participle)

V4 form of the verb (present participle)Having + V3 form of the verb (perfect

participle)

We use participle phrases to add colour to our writing skill. These participle

phrases are adjective phrases.

The girl carrying teddy bear is my sister. Whistling the same tune as always, our English teacher entered the class room.

Present Participle:A laughing man is stronger than a suffering man.

We should not wake up a sleeping dog.

Past Participle:The boy taken to hospital recovered.Broken relations cannot be mended.

Perfect Participle:Having finished her work, Susi left her office.

Having taken his bat and pads, Dhoni left the crease.
