THE POWER OF YOUR

Version 2

Verse 1Lord you come to me, And as my heart is changed, released This miracle of grace gently sets me free And Lord I’ve come to know, The weaknesses I see in me, Will be stripped away By the power of your love.

Chorus

You hold me close, You’ve let your love surround me, For you’ve come near To draw me to your side. And in your life I’m rising like the eagle And I will soar with you As your spirit leads me on In the power of your love

Verse 2

Lord unveil my eyes, You let me see you face to face In the knowledge of your love As you live, in me. You renew my mind As your will unfolds in my life In living every day In the power of your love

ChorusYou hold me close, You’ve let your love surround me, For you’ve come near To draw me to your side. And in your life I’m rising like the eagle And I will soar with you As your spirit leads me on In the power of your love

Verse 3Lord you’ve come to all With hope that shines to light the way As mercy soothes our souls, healing every heart. Love that sees the tears Overcomes our darkest fears Grace that lifts us up In the power of your love

ChorusYou hold me close, You’ve let your love surround me, For you’ve come near To draw me to your side. And in your life I’m rising like the eagle And I will soar with you As your spirit leads me on In the power of your love

WE CONFESS OUR SINS TO GOD

CONFESSIONFriends in Christ: Jesus said: 'It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but it is what comes out of the mouth that defiles . . . For out of the heart come evil intentions, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a person.' As we have come into the presence of God who searches our hearts, let us confess our sins to him, and ask him to forgive us and make us clean for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Our help is in the name of the Lord.He made heaven and earth. I said, I will confess my sins to the Lord. Then he forgave the guilt of my sin.

Almighty God, merciful Father, I, a poor helpless sinner, confess to you all my sins, and repent of all the evil I have done. I have deeply displeased you and deserve your punishmentin time and in eternity. But I am sorry for my sins, and I ask you, for the sake of the holy innocent sufferings and death of your dear Son Jesus Christ, to be gracious and merciful to me. Amen.

We rejoice in the good news that God sent Jesus into the world not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Those of you who believe in him are not condemned; (John 3:17,18) but are loved, accepted and forgiven. C: Thanks be to God!

PSALM 55:1-9New International Verson (NIV

Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea; hear me and answer me.My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught because of what my enemy is saying, because of the threats of the wicked; for they bring down suffering on me and assail me in their anger. My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death have fallen on me.

Fear and trembling have beset me; horror has overwhelmed me.I said, “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.I would flee far away and stay in the desert; I would hurry to my place of shelter, far from the tempest and storm.”Lord, confuse the wicked, confound their words, for I see violence and strife in the city.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning is now and will be for ever-more. Amen.

THE PRAYER OF THE DAY

Let us pray for humility.

Merciful God, give us the same attitude as Jesus, who emptied himself and was obedient to you all the way to his death on the cross. Make us eager to put others before ourselves, and their needs before our own. We ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Which son obeyed his father

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried.

He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father almighty, from thence he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE SERVANT KING

From heaven you came, helpless babe,Entered our world, your glory veiled; Not to be served but to serveAnd give your life that we might live.

This is our God, the Servant King,He calls us now to follow himTo bring our lives as a daily offeringOf worship to the Servant King.

There in the garden of tearsMy heavy load he chose to bearHis heart with sorrow was torn,‘Yet not my will, but Yours’, he said.

This is our God, the Servant King,He calls us now to follow himTo bring our lives as a daily offeringOf worship to the Servant King.

Came see his hand and his feetThe scars that speak of sacrifice,Hands that flung stars into spaceTo cruel nails surrendered.

This is our God, the Servant King,He calls us now to follow himTo bring our lives as a daily offeringOf worship to the Servant King.

So let us learn how to serveAnd in our lives enthrone him; Each other’s need to prefer,For it is Christ we’re serving.

This is our God, the Servant King,He calls us now to follow himTo bring our lives as a daily offeringOf worship to the Servant King.

SERMON:

Matthew 15:21-28

Your offering for the work of the Church will now be received during this song

IN CHRIST ALONE

In Christ alone my hope is foundHe is my light my strength my songThis Cornerstone this solid GroundFirm through the fiercest drought and

storm

What heights of love what depths of peace

When fears are stilled when strivings cease

My Comforter my All in AllHere in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone who took on fleshFullness of God in helpless babeThis gift of love and righteousnessScorned by the ones He came to save

Till on that cross as Jesus diedThe wrath of God was satisfiedFor every sin on Him was laidHere in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body layLight of the world by darkness slainThen bursting forth in glorious DayUp from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victorySin's curse has lost its grip on meFor I am His and He is mineBought with the precious blood of

Christ

No guilt in life no fear in deathThis is the power of Christ in meFrom life's first cry to final breathJesus commands my destiny

No power of hell no scheme of manCan ever pluck me from His handTill He returns or calls me homeHere in the power of Christ I'll stand.

From the urge for revengethat adds to the cycle of violence, O Lord, deliver us.From the fear that grows into hatredfor people who are different, O Lord, deliver us.

From being too quick to attribute blame and demand retribution, O Lord, deliver us.From believing ourselves safe through anything other than your grace, O Lord, deliver us.

From dying suddenly and unprepared, O Lord, deliver us.

For those who plan and carry out acts of violence, Lord, hear our prayer.

For all who seek justice and ensure the rule of law,Lord, hear our prayer. For the victims of war and terrorism everywhere on earth, Lord, hear our prayer. For all who live in fear, and for refugees from violent regimes,Lord, hear our prayer.

For the vulnerable and defenceless in conflict zones, for the children, the elderly, the disabled, the sick: Lord, hear our prayer. For Christ to bring all the peoples of the world into one flock with one shepherd,we pray to you, O God.

For Christ to bring healing and comfort for those we love who are sick or in mourning,we pray to you, O God.For Christ to lead us into the paths of peace, writing the law of love on our hearts,we pray to you, O God.
