Each September, New Yorkers come from all over the city and surrounding areas to participate in Parks’ annual Citywide Bocce Tournament.

Citywide Bocce Tournament

Saturday and Sunday, September 29-30, 2007

• 85 teams registered to compete – 340 players – one of the largest tournaments in the country.

• Manhattan added as a 5th site for preliminaries

• Media coverage by NY1, the Daily News, Queens Courier, and the Times Courrier Life among others.

• Prize money for first place increased to $1,000

The 13th Annual Citywide Bocce Tournament was the largest

tournament to date in Parks history, and our most successful.

Perennial favorite Tyson’s team did not make it to the finals this year.

Pelham Bay Park played host to the Citywide Finals in 2006.

Hundreds of spectators gathered around the courts throughout the course of the day.

A new crop of younger bocce players joined the tournament this year, and even made it to the Finals.

• 10 teams competed in double-elimination play

• World-renowned PBS chef, restaurateur and author Lydia Bastianich was a special guest.

• Sponsors Columbus Citizens Foundation and KTU were onsite giving away information and goodies.

• Lunch trays were generously donated by Iavarone Brothers and Fortunata’s.
