Using the scientific method, select, carry out, and present an experiment at the science fair.(include introduction, testable question, hypothesis, materials, procedures, data/results, conclusion, and demo for ExCr.)

Share applications of science in everyday life with the community. Exemplary projects will also be displayed in the hallways after the fair for Manos a Manos.

Forces and Motion (Physics – 8th)

NY State Standards• Balanced/Unbalanced Forces• Displacement• Velocity• Acceleration• Friction• Frame of reference• Inertia & Gravity• Newton’s Laws

Lab-Aids Kit

Sports Challenge Exhibition Highlights• Balance Challenge• Bounce Challenge• Climbing Challenge• Pitching Challenge• Race Challenge• Trajectory Challenge

Example Projects for Physics• Which surface opposes motion the most?(inspired by Bounce Challenge)

• Which bridge design is the strongest?(inspired by Climbing Challenge)

• How does the weight and nose shape of an airplane affect its motion?

(inspired by Pitching Challenge)

Guests/Speakers

• Kirsten Stoner–Hospital for Special Surgery–How forces affect our body (bones)
