This collection explores the connotations which surround the terms ‘alphamale’ and ‘underdog’, this has been expressed through the fundamental ideas of strength and weakness respectively. The look of the Alphamale was inspired by boxers bodybuilders, and gangs; whereas the apposing look — the Underdog was inspired by animal cruelty, femininity as a perceived weakness, and femininity in a man.

The looks are intentionally separated and opposing, to expose the perceived differences between the two terms. The Alphamale look is all black — a (full) colour often perceived as a powerful and strong colour, this power and strength is emphasised by oversized garments and exaggerated features, whilst being made from tough and heavy fabrics. However, the Underdog look is all white, a colour lacking any colour at all, and perceived often as pure, soft, and weak, the garments are flowing and delicate, due to being made from sheer, light, elegant fabrics to represent and express the vulnerability of the ‘underdog’. Ultimately the collection is an expression of the battle between the two opposing sides of this scale of strength, highlighting and attempting to depict the constant struggle of power within our society.
