NHL ExpansionTop Destinations For A New Team

Las Vegas, Nevada• Arena will be completed in

2016.

• They have had a season-ticket drive, which has received pledges for over 10,000 tickets.

Seattle, Washington• 14th largest television

market in the country.

• Great destination to help the NHL expand the league’s footprint. Hockey would work well in Seattle.

• Only thing holding the city back is the lack of a building to house an NHL team.

Quebec City, Canada• A new arena is under

construction which can hold 18,000-plus fans for hockey.

• The NHL has a great relationship with Quebecor - the French-speaking TV rights holder for NHL games in Canada.

• Renew the rivalry with the Montreal Canadiens.

Toronto, Canada• Venture capitalist Graeme

Rouston says that he will apply for expansion to give Toronto a second NHL team.

• It is uncertain if a second team would be able to compete with the Maple Leafs, but it is a big city with a lot of hockey fans.

Kansas City, Missouri• The Spring Center is there

and able to house an NHL team.

• It has been a rumored relocation destination for teams such as the Pittsburgh Penguins (in past years).

• There is not yet an ownership interested in bringing a team to the city.
