BACKGROUNDThe National Green Infrastructure Certification Program (NGICP) sets national certification standards for green infrastructure (GI) construction, inspection, and maintenance workers. Designed to meet international best practice standards, the certification advances the establishment of sustainable communities by promoting GI as an environmentally and economically beneficial stormwater management option, supporting the development of proficient green workers, and establishing a career path for skilled GI workers.
TRAINING
CERTIFICATION
EXAM
In order to become certified, each trainee must meet the following criteria:
• HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA
• COMPLETE THE 35 HOURS OF APPROVED TRAINING
• PASS THE EXAM
• AGREE TO THE NGICP CODE OF CONDUCT
• GIVEN AT CIVIC GARDEN CENTER ON NOVEMBER 14, 2017
• BETWEEN 100-140 QUESTIONS OVER 3 HOURS
• BASED ON EXAM BLUEPRINT AVAILABLE ON THE NGICP WEBSITE - www.ngicp.org
Training will be provided at the Civic Garden Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Training modules are scheduled for Monday and Friday mornings from 8a-12p, starting on Friday, September 8, 2017 and ending on October 13, 2017. Each module will be facilitated by local GI professionals.
This is an intense 35-hour course that will cover background information in stormwater management and GI, materials used in GI practices and systems, and safety and site management. The classes mix both in-class training and hands-on training in the following GI practices:
