For 100 years, AIGA has witnessed design contributing to culture, society, and industry on behalf of powerful patrons. As we enter the 21st century and AIGA’s next 100 years, what will design look like?

Why?

Because design transforms existing conditions into ideal ones. How will design improve the lives of doctors? Teachers? Social workers? The unemployed? The homeless? Schoolchildren? What does that look like now? And what will it look like in the future as AIGA encourages all designers to utilize their heads, hands, and hearts?

How?

Chapter and community leaders will get the ball rolling by making short, 5-minute videos that provide an personal perspective on how design has shaped their world and will continue to do so. And through a grassroots social media campaign, the general public will be encouraged to

In the summer of 2013, each chapter will host a community event to envision and celebrate the future of design’s possibility. The highlight of the party will be live presentations of the best 5 to 10 stories that had been shared with the chapter in the prior months. This will bring designers and nondesigners together.
