“There are two ways of spreading light; to be the candle
or the mirror that reflects it.” - Edith Wharton
One of our congregational shepherds, Dennis Muir, will share a message from God’s Word today. Here are the
ABC’s of Dennis Muir:
A—Attitude of Trust and Confidence Proverbs: 5-6 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your
ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” —
Romans 8:28 — “And we know that all thinks work together for good to those who love God, to those who
are the called according to His purpose.”
B — Build Your Faith II Timothy 3:16 — “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
James 1:22 — “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
C—Continue in the Faith Galatians 6:10 — “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
Jeremiah 17: 7-8 — “Blessed is the man who trust in the Lord, for he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out
its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease
from yielding fruit.”
Congratulations! Our congratulations
to Emily Ovenshine
and John Kurlak
who were married here at NSCC on
Friday, August 19th.
We thank Doug Emmett and the Congregational Care and Fellowship Ministry Department for another great day in the Lord. We gathered in
the amphitheater for worship – thanks About-A-Mile and Pastor Jeff Miller for leading and ministering to us. About 150 gathered to enjoy
lunch and some afternoon activities. And considering the weather that could have been – we managed to have a great day together. THANK
YOU to all who made preparations an all who shared in the day!

BOB AND KATHI HUBER CELEBRATE 39 YEARS OF MARRIAGE
Pastor Bob and Kathi Huber celebrated 39 years of marriage on Friday, August 19! They were married right here
at NSCC on Saturday August 19, 1972 at 11:30 a.m. by Dr. Wilbur Reid. PB was 18 and Kathi was 19 and as
you may know PB is now 57! That same day they headed to Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tn. for PB to at-
tend JBC – they had never even seen the school – just signed up and showed up! While there, Kathi earned her
PHT (Putting Hubby Through degree) while Bob sorta’ studied for four years, graduating in 1976.
PB says, “It’s been wonderful God-filled, grace –filled journey. According to the numbers, we should have been
statistics by now! BUT we are not bound by the world or the world’s statistics – PRAISE
TO THE LORD! And I love my wife more and more as the journey continues.” (You can
ask Kathi what she thinks about 39 years with her first husband – and please let me
know what she says. Thanks, PB)
This weekend, the Hubers have taken their children and grandchildren and mother
Margaret to Kalahari Resort and Waterpark in Ohio for a time of family celebration
and praise.
A great joy for Bob and Kathi was to hold the wedding of Emily Ovenshine and John Kurlak on Friday afternoon
August 19 and in the very same spot on the globe where they were married 39 years previous. The Hubers say,
“Congratulations John and Emily and remember to let the Lord Jesus Christ be the center of your new life as one.
May your journey be as wonderful as ours has been!” (Note to John: On August 19, 2012, dinner is on you as you
celebrate 1 year and we celebrate 40! – PB)
And to all married people – STAY IN LOVE!
Elmer’s Glue Sticks! ! We are looking ahead to the start of All About Youth and
Shepherd of My Heart Preschool this fall. We want to make
sure that we are stocked-up on the “craft” essentials, especial-
ly Elmer’s Glue Sticks! Wal-Mart and other stores will soon
be having fantastic sales on school items. Last August a pack-
age of 2 Elmer’s Glue Sticks could be purchased for 20 cents at
Wal-Mart. One month later the price for the same item was
more than $1.00! Would you please help us now while the
price is right?
Thank you
