The Department of Neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute, chaired by Jeremy Shefner, MD, PhD, provides compassionate and skilled neurological patient care, performs innovative translational and clinical neuroscience research, and delivers superb training to the next generation of neurologists. Barrow neurologists treat multiple subspecialty conditions, including the treatment of brain cancer, brain injuries, cognitive disorders, epilepsy, headaches, inflammatory diseases, movement disorders, optic nerve disorders, vestibular disorders, neuromuscular diseases, and stroke.
The clinical trial research program at Barrow is part of NeuroNEXT, NIH’s prestigious Network for Excellence in Neuroscience Trials for neurological diseases. Barrow strives to offer each patient an option to participate in a clinical trial. With its focus on clinical research, the neurology team believes the research conducted at the Institute will one day lead to more effective treatments for the most difficult neurological disease.
