Skills NaNoWriMo Builds:

Fluency – Writing so much in so little time boosts proficiency in grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and will help you approach future writing assignments with ease and confidence.

Confidence – When creating so much prose in such a short period of time, you will realize just how much you can accomplish when you put your mind to it.

Creativity – Creating characters, situations, dialogue, and even whole planets from scratch helps you think, and apply your fanciful ideas to a full project.

Time Management – you will learn how to tackle a huge project by breaking it down into manageable bites!

What do we have to do? To participate in NaNoWriMo, you should

first set a word count goal for a ROUGH DRAFT…

This is your goal! Pick something that is challenging, but you can achieve! 8,000 words in one month (roughly 13 pages) 15, 000 words in one month (roughly 25 pages) 30,000 words (roughly 50 pages) 50,000 words (roughly 100 pages)

How do I keep track of my totals? A typed 12 point font page averages

around 400 words. You can use word count on Microsoft

Word if you are typing. If you hand write, count your first few

pages and take the average amount of words you write per page.

Once a week, on Thursday, you will be asked a total to give your English teacher.
