History Utuado is rich in history, from Puerto Rico before

it was discovered by the Spanish, was populated by indigenous Utuado.

On November 11, 1734, Governor Matthias Abbey granted the license to start the foundation of Utuado. However, it is not until October 12, 1739 that 60 families of Arecibo founded the Villa del Otoao. These families came from Arecibo, San Germán, Ponce and Aguada.

History Utuado had economic activity in

agriculture such as coffee. President Theodore Roosevelt was visited

by in 1906, who ordered the construction of the bridge of La Playita.

He witnessed several revolutions stationed in the island, and th October, 1950 comes the Slaughter of the nationalist revolution, this being a tragic episode in our history.

Conclusion Utuado today remains a town where

agriculture is part of its economy, but not the breadwinner of the people. It has beautiful places in contact with nature.

I love my people and I am very proud to live here.
