King Hemraj and the Pool of Youth.

Once in the city of Mohenjo-Daro, there lived a King, who was called King Hemraj by his people. He became king because he was believed to be wealthiest man in all the land.

One morning when the King awoke, he looked in the mirror and what he saw disturbed him. He saw stress wrinkles upon his once flawless face. So he called to his servants to build him a pool to relax in.

It took the servants 50, long, grueling days to finish the pool. When they finished, they filled up the pool with the purest water they could find. After the pool was filled to its brim they called to their king.

After the King inspected his new pool he told his servant to fetch him his swimming trunks and a towel. He then proceeded to dive into the fresh, clean water.

However, the king was not satisfied with how he felt after he had finished his swim. The king wanted to feel young again. Suddenly, he had an idea! He told his servant to fetch his youngest son, Prakul.

The king thought that by sacrificing his son and letting his youthful blood spill into the pool he could become young by swimming in it. So that is exactly what he did.

When the kings’ servants discovered the blood and the body of Pakul in the pool they informed the whole city. The people of Mohenjo-Daro were horrified that their king would do such a thing to his own son.

The people decided amongst themselves to band the king from the city because of the murder of his son. And to honor the king’s family they made the king’s eldest son, Dushyant, their new king. And so the whole city lived happily ever after...
