Mark As Non-Blank
• If a page with minimal content is mistakenly detected and displayed as blank in the Scan module or Quality Control module, the Scan or QC operator can mark it as non-blank to avoid having it deleted when the module is closed.
• When the Mark As Non-Blank is selected, the overlapped icon indicating a blank page is removed in the Batch Contents tree view.

VRS QC Later
• Allows operators to correct an image without having to physically rescan the document
• When a page does NOT fall within the predefined image limits, then the master image (8-bit grayscale or 24-bit color) is linked to the page
• VRS QC Later may be activated to display the Kofax VRS Interactive Viewer for correcting the image

Requirements for VRS QC Later
• Three requirements exist for using VRS QC Later with Kofax Capture:
1. A software VRS Source (SVRS) must be selected at scan time
2. Must have a VRS Professional license (either Workgroup or Production)
3. Must select “QC Later” as the Adjust Quality mode in the Scan module

The VRS QC Later Process
Batch is scanned using Kofax VRS source scanner.
Kofax VRS creates a multi-bit per pixel
image (8-bit grayscale or 24-bit
color).
Kofax VRS performs image
clean-up and manipulation on
the multi-bit image.
1-bit per pixel bitonal TIFF
images are made available to Kofax Capture for further
processing.
Kofax VRS performs
thresholding, converting the
multi-bit image to a 1 bit per pixel
bitonal TIFF image.
The QC operator opens the KofaxVRS Interactive Viewer and fixes
the multi-bit grayscale or color
image.

Unattended Scanning
• Allows a batch to be created on-the-fly using special separator sheets.
• When the separator sheets are scanned, Kofax Capture will be triggered by the patch codes to read the bar codes and create batches.
• The resultant batches will be identified by the system date and time, and will be ready for the next queue.
• This automates the scanning operation, allowing batches to be created with minimal operator input.
Slide 45 Module 14 -- Quality Control and VRS QC Later
Unattended Scanning Setup
• The steps involved in setting up Unattended Scanning:
1. Meet prerequisites and avoid “gotchas”
2. Reserve a Batch Separator Patch Code
3. Re-publish all batch classes
4. Print batch separator sheets
5. Select Unattended Scan properties
6. Create a batch
7. Enable unattended scanning

Prerequisites for Unattended Scanning
• Prerequisites for unattended scanning include:
• Make sure the input source is a scanner equipped with an auto document feeder (ADF)
• Batch classes selected for creating separator sheets should not have any requirements for:
• Entering batch totals
• Entering required batch fields
• Manual separation
• No batches in-process
