Description:

Alec Issigonis’ friend John Cooper, owner of the

Cooper Car Company and designer and builder of

Formula 1 and rally cars, saw the potential of the Mini

for competition. Issigonis was initially reluctant to see

the Mini as a performance car but, after John Cooper

appealed to the BMC management, the two men

collaborated to create the Mini Cooper.

The Austin Mini Cooper and Morris Mini Cooper

debuted in 1961. A more powerful Mini Cooper,

dubbed the ’S’, was developed in tandem and

released in 1963. The Cooper S MkII is the rarest of

all of the Mini Coopers with a production run of 6,300

compared to 19,000 MkI's.

This is a very rare opportunity to buy one of the last

ever made Morris Mini Cooper S MkII 1275’s which

has been beautifully restored in its original Snowberry

White colour with immaculate bodywork. This Mini has

received a full nut and bolt restoration leaving this as

one of, if not the best example on the market. The

Black Vinyl interior is in also excellent condition.

This Cooper S is featured in Jeremy Walton’s book on

the marque which is included in the extensive history

file. It also comes complete with the original handbook

and a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate.

Sold for £25,500
