Different providences spoke different languages. Practiced different religions. Followed their own laws.

There was a local self government. This meant that there was not only one government for all

of the providences.1) Different government for all places locally.

Must be kind to conquered countries.

Rules: Government

• Name: Cyrus

• He was known for his different method of governing.• Also known for his

military genius

• Believed in in honoring local customs and religions.• Did not discriminate (very

unlikely for this time)

• Military leader, one of the best of his time.

King Cyrus

• Name: Cambyses.

• He conquered Egypt.• Big deal – Egypt was one of the stronger countries.

• Neglected his fathers wise example (Cyrus)

• Darius took over.• Ruled humbly but powerfully.• Brought peace and stability to the empire.

• Conquered what is present day Afghanistan.
