This apartment is divided into two areas, one private and one social. The first comprises the kitchen, the sofa and the bookcase. The second forms a space that is compartmentalized with walls composed of white MDF boards, oak and glass. This space houses the guest room and the master bedroom, which is separated from the dressing room by sliding doors.

Interior windows can help to establish a visual

connection when it is not possible to physically join one

room to another.

This Parisian maisonette was created with the remit of respecting the original spatial dimensions whilst redefining them in a practical manner. New structures cover the existing frame like a second skin that assigns new functions to these structures, making way for a wide and bright space.

The client, the manager of a publishing company, wanted to live surrounded by his books and favourite objects. Given his limited budget, the architects decided to incorporate the wooden frame into the design and to design the floor, ceiling and walls as a single entity that even integrates furniture and fixtures.

Lauan, a tropical wood with a streaked unfinished look,

is used here throughout and transforms the room into

a cosy cave.
