eFondazione Malutta at Monitor, Collezione Malutta + Black Marketa project by fondazione Malutta, curated by paola CapataGalleria Monitorroma, it2017

Monitor was prompted to invite the f . M. to take part in this event by the belief that the gallery should be experienced as an alternative, dynamic space, a wor-kshop of ideas where projects take form – a presenta-tion opportunity for a new generation of artists taking their first, unconventional steps within the art system where they can experiment an alternative to their per-sonal research. a cross between a renaissance era workshop and an improvised party in a secret loca-tion, the f . M. has over thirty artists all aged between 20 and 35. but although they share a common age bracket, everything from language to medium couldn’t be more different. not that this in any way represents an obstacle, of course, in fact this melting pot of dif-ferent cultures, genres and sensitivities enriches the collective artistic research considerably. Since it was set up in 2009, the f . M. has developed into an orga-nisation with a very clear operational strategy and is made up of young, dynamic members.the group of artists will conceive a layout based on an experimental approach to the traditional system in which exhibitions are displayed and viewed. a number of individual identities will make up a single, large and multi-shaped collective artwork, outlining the founding principles of a reality that extends across the bounda-ries of all categorisation, capable of always creating new identities and collective mechanisms wherever those groups happen to gather.as “for what the f . M. is there for?” is the essential question which these artists are attempting to address, in the belief that it is profoundly useful, necessary, involving and attractive for enriching our daily lives as well as helping us all understand the changes going on within us and in the society surrounding us.

eLa torre maluttonaa project by fondazione MaluttaGalleria Monitorroma, it2018

Monitor is pleased to invite fondazione Malutta to curate a show in the gallery’s spaces for the second year running. fon -dazione Malutta, a fanciful name for a collective of some 40 artists from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, between the ages of 20 and 35, works pri-marily in painting, sculpture and alcoholic practices.the artists involved in the second edition of this collaborative project will present works and ideas inspired by the myth of the t ower of babel, which, in their own words, they hope will mark a new age ironically regulated by a ‘weak Maluttian philosophy’, “with an emphasis on ‘pity’ or ‘pietas’ towards received historical values and to the realization of a subject matter which is neither unifying nor contingent on a logical self-awareness, but is multifa-rious and versatile.”in line with this collaborative and equal approach to different practices, this ye-ar’s exhibition will also host a flea mar-ket during the babelian opening of the show.

eProgramma androgino 1999 cureted by Massimiliano Gottardi and Giulio peirè, with Custom liri’s textlabour book + Selfmade residency, Venice, it2018

proGraMMa anDroGino 1999You are as beautiful as a burning jail.i read it in a road leading to the train station, after all.i pictured the incandescence licking the bars, your lineaments softened by the flames. It was like arevolutionary echo, though i only care about etymological revolutions – astral motions.this revolution is a plan of yours, i fear: a plan for a body moving around another body – revol-vere,from Late Latin ‒, and anyway, it sounds like a weapon, a cosmogonical igniter. and i feel myfinger on your trigger.“the universe is a defect in the purity of non-being. and not without reason, for by protectingitself this place makes being itself languish. this place is called Jouissance, and it is the absence ofit that makes the universe vain.” (Jacques la -can)Do you know that the gait cycle (revolution), in medicine, designates the combination of two simplesteps?

You looked for unity and you found anarchy, a faulty origin. t wo simple steps. t wo, nay one-plus-one. happiness is a warm gun.

eThe other side of the mooncurated by eva Comuzzi e orietta Masin Galleria bertoni, Cervignano del friuli (uD), it2018

“each of us is followed by a shadow, and unless it is integrated into the conscious life of the individual, the darker and den-ser it is.” (Carl Gustav Jung)

the other Side of the Moon closes a triptych, started in 2015 with t ime is run -ning out and then continued with Shine on you crazy Diamond. the themes dealt with in these two reviews, such as time, analyzed above all in relation to its acce-leration and the consequent neurosis de-riving from this phenomenon, have led to investigate, during the current year, that plurality of forces - often unconscious - that swarm in the our subsoil and to which Jung had given the name of shadows.

ePerpendiculara project by fondazione Maluttaparallel Vienna, Vienna, a2018

parallel Vienna takes place for the sixth time in Vienna from 25thto 30thSeptember 2018 and sticks to its approach of using temporarily vacant buildings as a presentation platform for contemporary art. this year PARALLEL VIENNA takes place in a former office bu-ilding at lassallestraße 1, 1020 Vienna.parallel Vienna presents young and emerging as well as established artistic practices and brings together art initiatives of every kind – art associations, galleries, project spaces, off spaces and artist spaces – , both austrian and international, all under one roof. it thus combines local artistic creation with internatio-nal trends and contributes to building networks and fosters exchanges between between artists, curators, collectors and exhibition visitors. parallel Vienna is a hybrid between art fair, ex-hibition platform and artist studio. it unites exhibitions made by commercial galleries (Galler Y State-MentS — each with a solo presentation of an artist), off-spaces and art associations (proJeCt State-MentS – a solo or group show) and solo presenta -tions by selected artists (artiSt StateMentS or ar-tistic inter VentionS in the building invited directly by parallel Vienna). instead of the usual booths at art fairs, each exhibitor occupies a separate room of the building in which the exhibition is presented. These site-specific artworks and interventions are the trademark of parallel Vienna and make the fair a unique and alternative exhibition format outside the“white cube. as a curated art fair participation is upon invitation by the curatorial team only.

eFinalist Combat Prizecurated by paolo batoniG. fattori Museum, livorno, it2018

the Combat prize is born to start a sur-vey among the most interesting propo-sals of the international reality of art. the name CoMbat takes conceptual inspi-ration from the combat films, filmed by american military cameramen during the World War II fights, in which the horrors of war were often filmed on the front lines and live to document and show the ame-rican population - not yet certain prepa-red for this tv truth - what was happe-ning, including the most bloody episodes.

eFondazione Malutta meets the Alba-nian pavilliona project by fondazione Maluttaachitecture biennial, arsenale, Venice, it2016

the immaterial architecture of the albanian pa -vilion, entitled “i have left You the Mountain”, speaks of change, displacement, expatriation. For five days, the artists of Fondazione Malut-ta will be in dialogue with the iso- polyphonic songs that invisibly build the pavilion’s spaces. in each of these days, the pavilion will host, on a rotating basis, nine artists who, through their own making, will leave the comfort of their own studio and join this sounding place to create an environment of interaction and freedom, both as guests and foreigners.

as well as the Greek xenia - mentioned in the text written by Yanis Varoufakis as a contribu-tion to “i haveYou left the Mountain” - consi-ders the stranger a valuable resource for her own territory, fondazione Malutta will become that outside visit able to highlight further the migration and displacement concepts that the chant of the albanian pavilion conveys. the context of the arsenale is by its own na-ture a circumstance of transition for the visitor. a place in which the spectator passes throu-gh, and then continues his own journey. the impossibility of seeing the finished works that fondazione Malutta will craft - because they will be made on site - exactly for their incom-pleteness, the work of each artist will load new meanings, and open towards other horizons: there is no point of arrival, moving is the real place to stay.

eFinalist Francesco Fabbri Prize for Contemporary Arts in the emerging art sectioncurated by Carlo SalaVilla brandolini pieve di soligo (tV), it2017

the francesco fabbri prize for the con -temporary arts has the ambition to create a privileged point of view on the sympto-matic research of the present feeling in the field of emerging art and contempora-ry photography. the works that make up the corpus selected by the jury move on non-homogeneous linguistic and media levels: the only fixed point, the will to talk about the present. the strength of the award consists in fact in the plurality of the points of view expressed by a very composite path.
