St. Paul Telecommunication Tower Regulatory Process ATCOElectricisseekingapprovalfromtheAlbertaUtilitiesCommission(AUC),IndustryCanadaandotheragenciesasrequiredfortheconstructionandoperationoftheproposedtelecommunicationtower.FormoreinformationabouthowyoucanparticipateintheapprovalprocessrequiredbytheAUC,pleaserefertotheenclosedbrochureentitledPublicInvolvementinNeedsorFacilitiesApplications.IndustryCanadarequiresaseparateapprovalprocess.Toparticipateinthisprocesspleaserefertopagefour.GeneralinformationrelatingtoantennasystemsisprovidedonIndustryCanada’sSpectrumManagementandTelecommunicationswebsite(http://strategis.ic.gc.ca/antenna).Project Need and DetailsIfapproved,theSt. Paul Telecommunication Tower willbelocatednorthoftheTownofSt.PaulatSW17-58-9W4MontheexistingATCOElectricSt.Paulsubstationsite.ThenewtowerisneededtosupportandenhanceATCOElectric’sradioanddatacommunicationnetwork.Thenewtelecommunicationtowerwillbeaself-supportingsteellatticetowerapproximately46metre(m)high.Thetowerwillsupportthreeantennas:twoVHFantennasandonemicrowaveantenna.AllantennasareforusebyATCOElectric.Theprojectwillincludethenewtowerandinstallationofrelatedelectricalandtelecommunicationsequipment.

Design RequirementsThetowerwillmeetTransportCanadaaeronauticalsafetyrequirementsandwilloperateincompliancewithHealthCanada’sSafetyCode6fortheprotectionofthegeneralpublicandlocalradioenvironment.

Designandconstructionwillmeetapplicablestandardsandwillfollowgoodengineeringpractices,includingstructuralintegrity.

ImpactsNosignificantadverseenvironmentaleffectsareexpected.Neighbouringlandholdersmaynoticesomeincreasedtrafficandnoiseduringconstruction.AnenvironmentalassessmentundertheCanadianEnvironmentalAssessmentActisnotrequiredforthisproject.
