The European Dairy Sector

• more concentrated, specialized and automised production

• dairy education (systems) in EU are very different

• a competitive European dairy industry needs collaboration between all actors in education

Objective

The immediate objective of this project is to provide the sector with consolidated recommendations on training provision to meet the skills required by the labour market.

The Team

• 2 universities• 1 VET-provider• 2 skills councils• 2 associations of employers• 3 associations of employees and 1 large

enterprise.

Management / Steering Committee

The management of this project is the Danish Dairy Managers Association (FMF) Manager together with AEDIL (Association for European Dairy Industry Learning) Steering Committee, which is composed of:

Course of the project

• development of a framework for research of skills needs and supply in the dairy sector;

• research in 13 countries;

• analysis of the data collected and finally

• recommendations on how to close the gaps and even out mismatches found in the research.

Expected results 1/2

• The project will deliver forecasts on skills needs and trends five years ahead

and

• a collection of Best Practices on Work Based Learning from the dairy industry.

• The analysis will include at least, but not exhaustively, these sub-groups: • Skills demands

• Labour and skills supply

• Skills mismatches

• Emerging and future skills needs

• A special focus will be on needs for green skills and for digital skills. Moreover, AEDIL has divide the research and analysis in three areas of specialization within the dairy sector:

• Dairy Science and Technology• Dairy processing• Dairy Packaging and Environment

Timeline

• Report by November 2019 but full updates on the AEDIL websites, blogs and communication on social media.
