FOR ONSHORE AND OFFSHORE PROJECTS
Carpenteria Meccanica Luigi Rota produces and distributes high quality monolithic insulating joints for the oil&gas industry. Wherever you find pipeline and gas distribution systems you will also find a wide array of our products. When our monolithic insulating joints are used in the right application, savings in the overall costs of the entire corrosion control system are granted.
FOR ONSHORE PROJECTS
Limiting the spread and hence the cost of cathodic protection to those pipes that need to be effectively and economically protected by the main cathodic protection system.Electrically dividing long pipelines into distinctive cathodic protection system.Isolating a pipeline and ensuring that cathodic protection or stray electricity currents do not cause increased corrosion.Providing protection against earthing currents at domestic and industrial premises where the PME system is in use.
FOR OFFSHORE PROJECTS
Isolating the pipeline cathodic protection system in riser pipes and offshore structures. At field “tie-ins”.
DEMANGING APPLICATIONS
Making dependable isolation joints with dependable seals for safety-critical and extreme applications goes beyond excellence in design and manufacturing. It also means a strong commitment to quality.Carpenteria Meccanica Luigi Rota as a major isolation joints manufacturer, has access to substantial application data and a wealth of experience. Our practical know-how in using very complex and secure methods is supported by finite element analysis to combine experience and technology at the same time. The most extreme environments demand a strong commitment in finding the best sealing solution. Carpenteria Meccanica Luigi Rota is committed in achieving its objectives in very demanding services for high pressure or hard vacuum applications as well as against corrosive chemical and very low temperature in-line services.

MONOLITIC INSULATING JOINT for MAINLINESMATERIALS
Pipe sections · Carbon steel pipes in according to API 5L and ASTM, UNI, DIN and BS · Rolled plates, relevant to the above mentioned specifications longitudinally arc welded (SAW)
Joint body · Welded construction out of rings from heavy thickness rolled plates · Laminated or forged rings, in accordance with UNI, ASTM and DIN
Insulating materials · From epoxy-glass laminates or epoxy glass prefabrications in accordance with ASTM · From polycarbonates · From cold-cured epoxy resins
Sealing gaskets · From nitrile, fluoride and silicone elastomers in accordance with ASTM
Coatings · Internal surface: epoxy resins (fusion bonded epoxy) · External surface: epoxy primers epoxy paints or special high build coatings
WELDING AND NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING
• The metal components that make up the so-called “standard” joints are joined together by means of “fillet welds” if requested, the “fillet weld” seam may be checked by non destructive tests using dye penetrants and magnetoscopic inspections.
• With different preparation “butt welds” can be used. In this case, inspections by x-rays and ultrasounds can be carried out.
• All welding processes are in accordance with ASME VIII and IX and are certified by independent and International Authorities.
TESTS
Sample joint testing or individual joint testing are carried out to guarantee the following minimal values: · Hydrostatic test pressure: 1.5 times PN. · Dielectric tests (in air and on dry joints) * Electrical resistance: 5 megohms minimum; tension: 1 kV d.c. * Resistance to applied tension (without discharge): 3 kV / 50 Hz for 1minute
Upon request CARPENTERIA ROTA may supply insulating joints which have been subjected to the following supplementary tests:
· Electrical resistance, when joints are filled with water
L* p = water resistance (ohm x cm) R = p ------ where L* = length of lined internal wall (cm) S S = sectional flow area (sq.cm) · Cyclic hydraulic tests · Hydrostatic tests with welded and plates · Air-tightening tests · Dielectric tests after immersion in 3% NaCI solution
*Additional tests are performed according to costomers’ requirements and/or specifications.
