Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks raise
awareness and funds to save lives from breast cancer. The Leon event is a noncom-
petitive 3-mile walk that brings people together to make a difference for everyone
who has been touched by breast cancer. The events raise money to fund innovative
research, provide free information and support, and to help people reduce their
breast cancer risk or find it early when it's most treatable.
From the opening ceremony to the post-walk entertainment, a Making Strides event
is a celebration of survivors and opportunity to remember loved-ones lost. It's a
day that shouldn't be missed and won't be forgotten.

Greetings from the Governor - Larry Durrance
I hope everyone weathered the storm okay. It was another close call for
Tallahassee. I want to thank all the members that stepped up and helped
us get through it. As most of you know, we had evacuees take refuge in
our camping area before the storm. A special shout out goes to Barbara,
Julie, Carry Lynn, Deeders and Barb for making sure their stay was as
pleasant as possible. Your hard work did not and never will go unnoticed,
and I certainly hope I did not forget anyone.
The pool team and I had a great time visiting the Merritt Island Lodge
for the State Pool Tournament. Unfortunately, we didn’t bring home the
trophy, but I think they knew we were there. Hopefully we will get it
next year.
The Mid-year Moose Conference held in Orlando was nice. Lots of new
information was shared and will be forthcoming. It was super hot and
humid of course. Many people still without electricity and there were
several that did not make it to the conference due to the storm.
I know that some of you work regular full time jobs and have a busy life
outside of the lodge. Choosing to offer your time to volunteer in help-
ing our lodge meet our mission sincerely means a lot to Moose Haven,
Moose Heart and myself. If anyone would like to volunteer or help plan
an upcoming event, please see Donna Gandy, Tina Crayton, or myself.

It is October, WOW time is just flying by! Football parties, holiday parties ooh my.... I know this is a busy time of year for everyone, so make sure to take a few mo-ments out of your busy schedules and stop by our lodge four a relaxing cold bev-erage and play a game of bar bingo. And don't forget to sign the quarter & dol-lar book. I would like to thank our Loom for keeping our lodge open during hurricane Irma. We had several families that were able to seek shelter and feel safe. Thank you again to all that help out. We all had such a Fun time together keep-ing our minds off of the storm and the damage that it did to our state. I person-ally thank God it was not worse than it actually was by the time it hit Tallahas-see.
We are Moose, We are Moose Proud!!! Thanks to all our wonderful members who opened your Hearts & Wallets for Jerry Monks Fundraiser!! Another reason that makes me Proud to be a Moose!
Congratulations to Martha Mckown on getting her Green Cap at our Annual Convention in Orlando! Please congratu-late her on a job well done when you see her! Don't forget to look for our WOTM Pop-Up Boutique presented by our past Sr. Regent Sonja Guthrie. The time of year has come for some good riding weather!!!! We hope everyone can
make it to the 16th Annual Breast Cancer Poker Run on October 1, 2017 where the
Moose Riders will be donating $500 to this great cause. As many of you have partici-
pated in our Lottery Fund Raiser the past few weeks we greatly appreciate the gener-
osity! We hope the winner hit the jackpot! We would like to request an update on any
big winnings to keep interest going for next year!
The Moose Riders will be participating in many more events and we strongly encour-
age our members and anyone else interested to attend meetings. You do not have to
own or ride a motorcycle to participate! Just have a passion for helping others. Meet-
ings are held the 2nd Wednesday of the month right after the 6:30 dinner service.
