FEBRUARY 2019
From the Prez.
I am sure glad February is over.
Have had some medical issues and
surgery related to being older and
male. Things have turned out as
good as can be expected. Enough
of this and onto project news.
Haven’t’ been able to get started on
the 56 Chev Wagon project as it is
at home finally in my shop at home.
Tomorrow is Sunday and I hope to
get a little done by getting it up on
the lift and start removing the front
suspension. That will probably be it
for the day.
The weather hasn’t been exactly
cruising weather as my other cars
have been sitting ignored. The
Swap Meet preparation has been
going good. The spaces have been
filling up according to Dorothy. She
and Doug have been doing a lot of
the work, and doing a fantastic job.
Will see all of you next Saturday at
the Swap Meet. We do have a lot
of good staff for the club booth.
Looks like the number of sold spac-
es is up from last year which was
our best.
March 21, 2019 is our next sched-
uled club meeting and will hopefully
have a lot to report on the Swap
Meet. See you at the Swap Meet
and at the next meeting.

I found this month’s victim quite by accident and luck. While my pickup was being re-paired at Jerry Harmon's shop, a friend of his happened to look under my dashboard at the rats nest of old wiring. He asked Jer-ry, "do you think this guy would let me re-wire his truck?" I couldn't get an auto-wire kit to him fast enough. Unlike me, turns out he loves this kind of thing. Jerry says he is very meticulous and likes the chal-lenge. Man did I get lucky. First Jerry and now this guy! He did an excellent job and got things working that didn't work when I bought this truck 40 years ago. A few days later I sat down to try and find a club mem-ber to do this month’s story. I just received a new member roster from Dorothy. As I'm checking the list I see a notation on the bot-tom of the list that shows an asterisk next to the new members names. Two new mem-bers, one of them is the guy that just re-wired my truck! This too easy, he's it. Da-vid Gilmore is the guy I’m referring to. Some of you may know David as he was a member some ten years ago. I'm not sure what kind of car he was driving back then, but I'm going to guess it was a Chevelle. He's on his 4th one now. David's latest ride is a '69 Chevelle that checks all the boxes for an awesome restoration. I found this car to be absolutely perfect. It looks like a Detroit Steel street rac-er. Bright competition yellow and the origi-nal black vinyl top in perfect condition. Pe-riod correct American Wheels and wide tires. If you were a street cruiser or racer back in the day, you would recognize this car as a serious contender. It has that
stance that looks like it's ready to pounce. Remember back in '69 a 396 Chevelle was hard to beat! This one is stronger than it's original version with head-ers and new technology, like carburation and ignition upgrades. This car has been off the frame and every piece that wears out has been replaced or upgraded. Sus-pension front and rear has been rebuilt. He added disc brakes to help slow this thing down. The 396 was originally pushing a TH400 tranny. David decided to swap it out for a 700R. Nice upgrade with longer legs. It makes a great combo with the 373 geared posi. The latest thing he has done to the car was to add 3" exhaust through Flow-Masters. Oh yeah, you can hear him coming. The interior is all new and stock. Jerry Harmon painted this car re-cently and it looks awesome. I don't know if I've ever seen a neater or cleaner car be-fore. I mean this thing is immaculate out-side, inside and upside down. David seems to be a perfectionist and it shows in his work. On behalf of the LCCCC I would
