In 2008, PH5 celebrates its 50th anniversary.
To mark this occasion, we introduce a special
version of the classic fixture. We have named
it PH 50.
For five decades, PH5 has proven its unique
ability to blend into all types of interiors. We
now introduce the 2008 version, PH 50, in
five new colours that present new decorative
options – without changing Poul Henningsen’s
design or the excellent ideas underlying the
light processing.

Glare-free light in dazzling design
The fact that a design lasts for 50 years speaks for itself.
Let us just repeat that PH5 is the embodiment of all the
experience Poul Henningsen reaped during 30 years’
research in lighting. In PH5, Poul Henningsen combined
the three-shade and the four-shade fixtures to create a
fixture emanating both downlight and diffused room
illumination. Naturally, the light source is shaded.
Actually, PH5 is one of the supreme examples of the
completely glare-free fixture.
A breath of fresh air
PH5 was first introduced at
the exhibition “Glass, light and
colours” at the Danish Museum
of Art & Design in Copenhagen
in 1958. At the time, the fix -
t ure was in troduced as a classic
novelty.
However, no one could foresee
that PH5 would one day come
to be the very embodiment of
a PH fixture.
As time has gone by, PH5 has
become one of the best selling
PH fixtures in the world.
colour your world
In recent years, Louis Poulsen has manufactured
it in white and graphite as standard colours.
Appeals to resurrect the coloured versions have
abounded. The new PH 50 is at once classic and
contemporary, able to add refreshing vitality to
your home.
