“When all is said and done, Catholic schools are not just about having higher standards; they are

about having the highest standards. Just as they strive to

prepare their students for ‘the life that comes at you fast,’ they

especially position their students to set their sights on ‘the life

that has no end.’” –Bishop David Zubik of the Diocese of

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Catholic Schools: Raising the Standards

Franciscan School of Theology

FST is a Roman Catholic graduate theological school, owned and operated by

the Province of Saint Barbara of the Order of Friars Minor.

FST students and alumni provide for the poor; promote social justice; care for the

suffering in homes and hospitals, they teach, they celebrate the sacraments in our

parishes; they are – in the spirit of Clare and Francis of Assisi –

Christian witnesses in the world.

His heart was moved with pity for them, and he cured their sick.

The Six Communities of Mission San Luis Rey

Franciscan Friars of Old Mission San Luis Rey

"Those who embraced this life gave everything they had to the poor. They were satisfied with one habit which was patched inside and out, with a cord and trousers ..."

-Testament of St Francis

Like his original followers, Franciscans today are called to be persons of prayer

involved in a variety of ministries. A Community of Franciscan Friars call the Old Mission home with some working in

the Parish, the Old Mission, the Franciscan School of Theology and the Cemetery,

while others are retired.
