Subject: Support Local Nightlife Safety
To: Social@MearsTransportation.com To Whom It May Concern: We are writing you today in order to gain your support for our local Facebook page, Live Out, and to say thank you in advance for all that you provide to young adults around Orlando. Many dangerous decisions can be made when enjoying a night out on the town, and it is Live Out’s goal to do its part by keeping citizens informed on the safest nightlife tips. In order to support Live Out and its safe tips for Orlando citizens, all Mears Taxi service would have to do is agree to hand out flyers, provided by Live Out, after every ride given Thursday – Sunday after 3:00pm. In return, Live Out will promote Mears Taxi services in Orlando once a day online, whether it is a special rate, or a referral to your website or social media outlets. We hope that you take this proposal into serious consideration not only for the promotion of your services to many central Floridians, but to also help the City Beautiful become a safer one. You can contact us via the Live Out Facebook page if you have any questions or concerns regarding this partnership. We thank you in advance for your consideration and we hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely, The Live Out Team https://www.facebook.com/pages/Live-Out/1491829004399256?ref=hl
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Young adults are known to engage in destructive decisions when attempting to
have a good time, therefore we propose the Live Out Facebook page in order to
make young adults aware of the ever-evolving issues within the nightlife scene.
The creators of Live Out aim to address that need through constantly sharing
content that pertains to our audience, as well as gain a stronger following from
audiences in order to greater impact this community.
INTRODUCTION
How do peers communicate to others about partying safely? Do they at all? Live
Out is an online community that is meant to bring young adults together in order
to make trending issues such as alcohol, drugs, rape, robbery, and other safety
issues more apparent. The digital environment began as an idea on paper, being
contemplated and edited by four students who had been experiencing some
confusion when it came to some safety issues in their area.
Live Out aims to be constant news feed of sharable and relatable content that
discusses and or presents news, feedback, opinions and public service
announcements on nightlife issues circulating the partying crowd. Although Live
Out is strictly focused on bringing together a community in the Orlando area, if
the page became a success, it could become an Internet sensation.
Our goal is to promote Live Out through the safest and most efficient partners in
the Orlando area: taxi services. Without your services, our target audience would
have no influence when it comes to partying safely. Live Out wants to recognize
the time and effort that taxi services in big cities take in order to keep their
citizens safe each night.
NEEDS
Young adults, especially in the Orlando area, have been known to be reckless
and make dangerous decisions. This youthful group is faced with these decisions
every day. These potentially dangerous situations take place on the road, at
school, at a friends’ house, and even in their homes. This problem has become
well known and well documented. As a result, many groups have come forward
to help college-aged individuals stay safe and make beneficial decisions.
Unfortunately, these attempts are often unsuccessful. Many young adults see
advertisements and speeches from these groups and ignore them. They see all
of this effort as propaganda made by older people to prevent them from having
fun.
These are the circumstances that have created a need for the Live Out
campaign. It is a movement created by young adults for young adults. It offers a
fun and attractive environment for this audience and encourages them to do the
things that they like to do. Live Out fills a different need from similar groups
because the goal of the campaign is to mitigate the damage caused by the risky
behaviors that young people are inevitably going to be involved in. This is an
avenue that could potentially be much more effective at reducing the death,
injury, and sickness of individuals in this age group.
DESCRIPTION
The purpose of Live Out’s digital environment is to bring young adults in the
Orlando area together in order to keep each other informed, aware, and
constantly sharing information that promotes safe partying. As rhetors of the Live
Out page, Group 4 has researched and pulled together information from other
rhetors that write, publish, and share articles about the same safe partying
subjects. We decided to use our Facebook page as an environment that
resembled BuzzFeed: a constant feed of sharable content that readers can save
for later, or scroll through quickly on the go. The audience we are attempting to
reach responds well to that BuzzFeed content, so we knew we wanted to
incorporate that into our environment.
Live Out is organized to share a variety of posts that reach young adults in a way
that says, “It’s okay to have fun, as long as you are safe while doing so.” In order
to send this message out to readers, we took time to research what was trending
in other digital environments, and shared them within our own. For instance, we
took a trending popular DJ and rap artist’s public service announcement video
and added our own message to it when posting. Our audience responded to this
(as did we) due to the fact that the public service announcement was being
buzzed about all over Twitter, Mashable, BuzzFeed, other Facebook pages, and
more. The DJ and rap artist brought fame to an important issue, causing all their
fans to share it and write about it. Posting it on our Live Out page shows that we
are doing our part to research the most important and trending issues so that our
audience is always informed.
BENEFITS
In our proposal we plan to link our Facebook page with other organizations and
places that students like to go out to at night. The benefit of our proposal is that it
will allow for those companies and organizations to be a part of our page.
Currently our digital environment acts as a page full of information and tips for
students. We want to increase the interaction between our followers and also
other organizations and businesses in the area. We want this to not only be a
page where students can get life tips on going out but encourages them to be
safe while going out. There are currently several sites that are specific to UCF
students and raising the awareness of sexual assault. What our site plans to do
is that it will not only be directed at UCF students but also all young adults in the
area. Also our site will not only include information on awareness for sexual
assault but also tips on how to remain aware of your surroundings while on a
night out. There are very specific groups on Facebook that focus on some of the
topics that we discuss but we wanted to provide a broader outlook and speak to
young adults from a student-to-student perspective. With our message we want
to reach as many student as possible and fill the gap of a site that is created
using the students voice.

Live Out Facebook Page Technical Images
Live Out uses graphics that represent today’s nightlife culture in Orlando in order to clarify to users exactly what Live Out is about.
Posting articles about relevant topics for users to relate to and become aware of helps Live Out gain an audience, and interacting with them through photo contests and more
builds a trust between the user and the message Live Out serves to get across.
Being administrators of the Live Out page allows us to see which content is reaching the most users.
