“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”
- William Arthur Ward
The Little Things Art Prize focuses on the little things that make us
happy or the little things for which we’re grateful.
But don’t forget about the little things you can do for others!
Happiness is not just feeling good it’s also doing good;
and there are so many little things we can do for others that will
bring happiness to them and in turn, to ourselves as well.
- Dr Tim Sharp, CHO The Happiness Institute
Thank you...

The profound beauty of the vast spaces and smaller fragments of Australian landscape, and the fleeting experience of atmospheric and seasonal
shifts, both inspires and calms.
Road to country depicts the view from the car window as I finally reach the country and all that it encompasses. The promise of things to come, little things
that bring me joy...peacefulness, beauty and the comfort of being home.

My weekends with the family are really special time, and we have enjoyed going out on rowboats together. I love the simplicity of sitting in a boat propelled
by wooden oars sliding through the water and being surrounded by nature.

Our little fishermans shack is both a home and a haven, a place where you can feel the wind in your hair, sand between your toes and the rhythm of the
ocean tides - a simple life by the sea.

My work is a celebration of the simple and mundane things in our lives that we make beautiful, finding serenity in the clutter.

A reflection on giving oneself permission to follow a creative passion and the happiness that comes from
not only igniting fire in one’s own heart but lighting the spark in others.

I love watching light play upon our world. There is a magic in time spent this way. This work shows moonlight reflecting on small ripples of water, completely and
peacefully absorbing my attention.
When I’m working on a painting, often late into the night, Rosemary Smith naps on the daybed behind me, keeping me company and keeping herself comfortable
- it’s a little thing that makes us both happy.

A personal talisman to remind us that we are a tiny part of a greater whole, and to being expansive: to focus
outwards, be open, go forth, grow and engage as we journey through the universe.
Birthday cakes with ballerinas and cupcakes decorated with intricate swirls of icing make me happy. These delicate and impermanent confectionary delights
are recreated in porcelain to last forever.
