Reflections
Better DaysThe Rev. Stephanie Allen
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness beknown to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but ineverything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests bemade known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:4-7
I love these words from Paul’s letter to the Philippians. I’ve always loved thispassage. But what do we do with it when there feels as if there is not much torejoice about? How can this scripture speak to us when it seems like anyexpression of gentleness in our culture these days is immediately run over by amack truck? Do I feel the Lord is near? Don’t tell me not to worry. There is a lot toworry about. And forget peace. All I want right now is just a little bit of feelingnormal again.

With hopeful hearts, the children will be able to re-gather in November(depending on the Bishop’s recommendations).

When will we find time to be together, let alone have funtogether? We are tired. We are anxious.

Voting by Mail andIn-Person Early VotingBridget Knapp
Last week, I encouraged everyone to make sure that they are registered to vote. This week, I want to discuss mail-in voting and in-person early voting. If you areconcerned about the COVID-19 pandemic, give yourself the option to vote by mailby requesting an absentee ballot on the Absentee Ballot Tools page of the NCState Board of Elections (NCSBE) website. Do this soon because, according tothe Vote by Mail page of the NCSBE website, it will take 7 to 10 days for yourballot to arrive in your mailbox after you request it.
