My dear MotherAfter I wrote my last letter I could not rest satisfied that paper was better until I Telegraphed was very uneasy all Saturday Sunday and Monday. and thought it best for my individual constitution to Telegraph at once and obtain how he really was. and was much reforced [sic] at the reply.Mama I am writing to you on some paper that ______________________________________________________________________________I painted myself and do you not think it smart of me to do a piece of art like this without ever taking a lesson[?] I saw Minnie painting some little birds and while she went out I painted this as much like them as I could I certainly think I have wonderful talent (take it after papa) and Mama wont you please send me a box of water colors that come for children you can get it at Dikes for 10 cts Mrs Otis will not take any more pupils in art and I want to learn myself painted paper is so very fashionable I want to paint me some. it will afford me so much pleasure. You can send it in my box with those other little ______________________________________________________________________________requests if [you] do not forget it which I hope you will not The soiree did not come off last Friday but will this coming Friday. I will wear my white over my pink satin (I mean celetia) which I think it will be very pretty and will be obliga[ted] to have a corset by these and other little things please see if you cant get my box off before then if you please Mama and please do not forget those small requests I got a short letter from Lessie last week that ______________________________________________________________________________reminds me I will have to stop now and write her a long letter. do write real soon.
