Legend about Puntukas Stone

One lived a rich young lady.
A lot of young men asked her to be their wife, but she rejected all them.
Her parents got tired from her caprices.
Being angry they told her: “Let’s the devil be your husband”.
The girl had no other choice as to marry the devil.
The way to church went through the lake.
The girl ordered the devil to make a bridge through the lake till midnight.
The devil began to carry stones for the bridge.
While he was carrying the last stone, a cock crowed. The devil through the stone and ran away.
This enormous stone is still laying in Anykščiai region. People call it Puntukas. The stone serves as a monument for our famous pilots, who crossed the Atlantic Ocean in 1933
but their plane crashed only 600 km from Lithuania.
