In all cases, stakes (75mm - 100mm Ø and 2.7m in length) shall be placed in the tree pit at a depth of 0.6m prior to the planting of the tree. The Contractor shall ensure that the soil around the stakes is sufficiently compacted to ensure that the stake remain in an upright position Cross brace the stakes with 900mm x 75-100mm Ø CCA (H4) treated timber stake cut in half, fixed with galvanized bolts. Trees shall be attached to the cross brace with plastic coated wire with rubber tubing and ensuring that the cross brace do not chafe the tree. The cross brace shall be placed 700mm above ground level and 400mm below the top of the stake. The Contractor shall ensure that the main leader is tied to the cross brace and all lateral branches are free.
