Welcome to Koh Chang, it means Elephant Island in Thai

Yes, the sunsets are this vast.

Beyond the resorts and hotels lies the truth of the island. Sometimes you can catch a small glimpse that there is something else here. Like at the Chinese Temple when spirits were possess the initates. Yes, thats his blood on the blade. There is more here than just a beach.

The interplay between the sea, the sand and the jungle is amazing. It is vibrant and alive here. There is life everywhere you look, perhaps that why it is easy to feel more alive here than many places.

Religion plays a huge role in the lives of the people here and although they are not apt to admit it, their beiliefs in spirits, demons and ghosts goes unquestioned. The monks of the island provide a link between the past, the future and are literally the glue of the society here. Buddha, reincarnation and karma all play their parts in peoples lives.

No matter where you turn or what the time of day, there is beauty here.

Natural woods, water and even modern plastic all combine to make this island unique!

The East Coast of the island is much more authentic, and a very deep sense of community is here.

The West side is the resort towns, the party towns, where money buys happiness and drinks flow. Although it is all an illusion, many live for the dreams but ignore the eventual nightmares it brings on.

Koh Chang has beaches, always a place in the sun for everyone.

Not many people catch the sunrise, but it can be just as spectacular as the sunsets.

You can find a lot of peace here, you just look a little bit for it.

Thailand is famous for its flowers, it’s easy to see why.

After the tropical sun sets and the temperature settles down to a sultry night, the lights come on and the shoreline is alive up and down the coast.

One thing that is guaranteed on Koh Chang - the sunsets are spectacular.

I would like to thank all those who made this possible: Monchalee Chutum Mark & Lori Werklund Robert Leaker Ray & Clara King
