Corpus Christi ( Latin for Body of Christ ) is a WesternChristian feast . Its purpose is to honour the Eucha-rist , and as such it does not commemorate a particu-lar event in Jesus ' life. It is held on the Thursday afterTrinity Sunday . Its celebration on a Thursday is
meant to associate it with Jesus' institution of theEucharist during the Last Supper , commemorated onMaundy Thursday , and this is the first free Thursdayafter Paschaltide .[1] In the Ordinary Form of the Ro-man Catholic Church , the feast is officially known asthe Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. Inmany English -speaking countries, Corpus Christi istransferred to the Sunday after Trinity Sunday byboth Catholics and Anglicans. At the end of theMass , it is customary to have a Procession of theBlessed Sacrament (often outdoors), followed byBenediction of the Blessed Sacrament .

What is a father? A father is a very strong and pro-tective figure in our lives. A father provides andgives strength. God the Father embodies the es-
sence of all these roles. He is strict but merciful.Just but forgiving. He is our provider and source ofstrength. Fathers day is a day when we rememberour fathers. It is a special day to thank God in Hisrole as our Heavenly Father.
We thank Him for all the many ways He manifestsHimself as a Father in our lives, and through manydifferent people. Most of the time through own fa-thers. But at other times in other people who mayact as fathers to us. Like people who give us prac-tical sense and advice in times of confusion.
And it is a time to remember and thank our ownFathers for their sacrifices and their strength. Fortheir leadership and their hardwork. And most ofallfor their love...a love that would put their chil-dren before themselves.
Father's Day PrayerThank you, friend Jesus,
for my father who loves me,for my grandfather who cares for me
and for God, my eternal father, who made me and is always with me.
How Blessed I am!
For fathers, who have given us life and love, that wemay show them love and affection today and all days,
we pray to God, our Father.
For fathers who have lost a child through death, thatthey may find hope, and solace in your never ending
love, we pray to you, O God, our Father.
For fathers who have died, that God may welcomethem into that peaceful place that is without ending,
we pray to you, O God, our Father.
God our Father,in your wisdom and love you made all things.
Bless those fathers who have taken upon themselves, the responsibility of parenting.
Bless those who have lost a spouse to death ... or di-vorce
who are parenting their children alone.Strengthen them by your love that they may be and
becomethe loving, caring persons they are meant to be.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.Amen

FREQUENTLY CALLED NOS .
LAYA.

A bout thirty years ago there were two brothers who gotmarried. One was a tidy man who married a tidy wife andthey had a tidy family. The other was a more carefree manwho married a more carefree wife and they had a largefamily. Soon after marriage an enterprising salesman wasable to convince both families to invest in all 24 volumes ofthe Encyclopedia Britannica. The first brother built a glasscase with a lock and key for the precious books. The mes-sage was given to the children that these were preciousbooks and were to be used with care, better wash yourhands, and dry them carefully before touching the books, and then return them carefully after use, or Mom and Dadwill be very displeased.
In the other house the books were just stacked on the floor at the sideof the living room. I rememberonce visiting this house and I sawthe three year old son using theEncyclopedia Britannica! He couldnot reach the food on the table sohe brought over the volumes andstacked them to make a stairs toget to the food! By four he waslooking at the pictures. In a fewyears he was using the books tohelp him in his grade school, highschool and college assignments. Ifan argument arose in the family, the books were frequently con-sulted to add new information andresolve the issue.
The first family has now grown upand left the nest. The books are asgood as new in their glass caseand the owners are looking forsomeone who may buy them. Thesecond family has also grown upand left the nest. The Encyclope-dias are old and tattered, markedwith ice-cream and coffee stains.Nobody in the family would think of selling the books andnobody outside would think of buying them. The books hadsuffered the love of a generation of children, they had be-come part of them and in doing so had lost their ownbeauty. If you were an encyclopedia, which would you liketo be at the end of your life: spick and span, untouched bylife, or, worn and used, kicked about and loved by life?
This tendency to put what is precious away in an untouch-able place of reverence can also be seen regarding theEucharist, the Body of Christ, the feast we celebrate today. It is clear that meals were of great importance in the minis-
try of Jesus. He reached out to people at mealtime; hebroke down barriers by sharing meals with publicans andprostitutes; he manifested himself at meals. The Gospelstell us that he shared a fellowship meal with his disciples ashort time before he died. The early church re-membered,were reconnected with Christ by a simple cultic celebrationof the same meal. In this meal they recalled how Jesustook bread, blessed it, broke it and gave it to his disciples. So too Jesus takes each person and blesses them, setsthem apart for his service. In fulfilling this call we will bebroken. It is only when we are broken and know that we areneedy that the Lord can make his home in us.
In time the practice developedof taking the Eucharist to thosewho, because of sickness, could not be present at thecelebration. The sacred hostswere reserved for the sick.Later, they came to be rever-enced - because they were thereal sacramental presence ofJesus. While this devotionaldevelopment has a logic and avalue, it also has it's danger. The danger is that "the realpresence" becomes too identi-fied with the hosts in the taber-nacle. The bread that Jesusspoke of as taken, blessed, broken and given was some-thing more than that, it was aliving bread immersed in themidst of life. There is great dan-ger in having a too-holy-to-be-touched God. It is so mucheasier to love Jesus really pre-sent in the Blessed Sacramentthan to love him in an irritablemother-in-law or a cantanker-ous neighbor. We will miss thereal presence of Jesus if we
ignore that presence found in the heart of each person. This is the presence that we are present to when we medi-tate, and being present to this also brings us to a richer
understanding of Eucharist.

Upang huwag mainip at bisyo'y maiwasan
Dapat kang ipagmalaki at bigyan ngkarangalan.
Hindi madali ang mangingibang bansa
Tulad ng mga Ina na mayroong tiyaga
Trabaho, habang tayo ay nangungulila
Pagmamahal, pagmamalasakit, at pag-kalinga.
Pasakit at pagpapagal, mistulang naglalaho
Dala Mong mabuting balita, nais kong pangha-wakan
Mga pangakong hindi nagbabago, ibig kongmakamtan
Tugon sa problemat pagdarahop, Ikaw angkalutasan
Yaring pagsusumamo, naway makarating saIyong luklu kan.
SALAMAT PO ITAYni Michael Balba
Labis akong nangungulila

Importance of Father's DayImportance of Father's DayImportance of Father's DayImportance of Father's DayFather's Day festival is considered extremely important as it help acknowledge the contribution of fathers to indi-vidual families and to societies as large. Besides observance of Father's Day provide children an opportunity to ex-press love and respect for their fathers. The sentiment goes a long way in strengthening father-child relationshipand consequently in the emotional development of a child.
History of Father's Day The idea of celebrating Father's Day Festival was given by Ms Sonora Dodd , a loving daughter from Spokane. Herfather Henry Jackson Smart single-handedly raised Sonora and five of her siblings after the death of her motherduring childbirth. When Sonora attended a Mother's Day Sermon in 1909, she thought that if there is the day tohonor mother then there should also be a corresponding day to honor fathers. Sonora worked relentlessly for yearsto ensure that the idea of Father's Day becomes a reality. In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge first recognized Fa-ther's Day. In view of the massive popularity of the festival, in 1972, President Richard Nixon established a perma-nent national observance of Father's Day to be held on the third Sunday of June.
Over the years, the concept of celebrating Father's Day spread beyond geographical boundaries. Today, millions ofchildren across the world express gratitude for their dads as they celebrate Father's Day festival.
Significance of Father in our Lives Many people laughed at Sonora Dodd when she gave the concept of having a Father's Day, as traditionally, onlymother is regarded as the sole nurturer of a child. The role of father is often relegated to a secondary status ascompared to a mother. But all of us know that father is just as important for a child as the mother is. If mothersare the heroes of child rearing, significance of father in the development and emotional well being of a child is noless. Children depend on their father for their spiritual, emotional, physical, financial and social well being. Fordaughters, father is the ideal man in the world and also the first man they adore, while for sons, father is an idoland the strongest man they aspire to emulate.
Though traditionally father is seen more as a provider and guide for children, the scenario appears significantlychanged in nuclear family culture of today. With most husband and wife working, fathers in present times are asinvolved in child rearing job as the mothers are. Today, most fathers do not shy away from changing nappy or takingthe difficult task for putting the baby to sleep. This cultural change is helping in strengthening father-child rela-tionship and consequently in emotional development of a child and building of stronger family bonds.
Significance of Father's Day Festival Father's Day festival give us the opportunity to express thanks to our Daddy for all their unconditional love and af-fection. Observance of Father's Day makes fathers feel that their contributions are acknowledged in the societyand also by their children. They feel proud of themselves ! Besides by celebrating Father's Day, children comecloser to their father. For, most often children take love of their parents for granted. Celebration of Father's Day
makes them ponder for a while on the important role their father play in their life. This helps them appreciate theselfless care and protection provided by their father and hence they come emotionally closer to their dad.
Children must therefore take full opportunity of the day and express their gratitude for fathers with all theirheart. The best way to do so is to do small things that daddy appreciates and by saying I love you, Papa with agift of beautiful flower.

Maligayang pagdiriwang ng 111th Anniversary ng ating bansa! I un-derstand that this years Independence Day Theme is: Kagitingan,Kagalingan at Kasipagan Tungo sa Tunay na Kalayaan. Where be-fore our heroes fought to gain political freedom, today, we must useour sense of community and solidarity to gain freedom from economicdeprivation.
Today, we are faced with a global economic crisis.
In the Philippines we were fortunate to have taken tough measuresseveral years ago which have helped stave off the worst of the global
economic crisis. We raised revenues, cut down on smugglers, increased collection andtook the new revenue and invested heavily in long overdue physicaland human infrastructure.
Even with that, we had to invest new money and delay balancing ourbudget by a year or two in order to pump more money into the econ-omy and to provide relief for the poor who are hardest hit.
Next, we developed a track of expanding our domestic demand. Thisdecreased our reliance on exports. Our exports to GDP ratio now is28.5 percent against 49.0 percent in year 2000.
As a result of our dramatic reforms, our GNP grew 8.0 percent in2007. In 2008, when two-thirds of the world went into recession, wesustained GNP growth of 6.1 percent. In the 1st quarter of 2009, ourGNP still grew by 4.4 percent. Our unemployment only increased from7.4 percent in 2008 to 7.8 percent.
Ganumpaman, the pain and disruption of the current global contagionhurts. And the poorest among us are those who hurt the most. But wecan take heart in the fact that there are tentative signs of recovery inthe biggest international market -- the U.S. There are early signs ofimprovements in consumer spending and consumer confidence withgreater stability in the financial sector and an up-tick in manufacturing.
Nobel laureate Paul Krugman, a widely followed economist due to hisNew YorkTimes column, and others see recession bottoming out this year.Hopefully this represents the beginning of a rebound in the U.S. andin the global economy.
Your services and constant remembrance of your motherland and thePhilippines form an important part of our countrys social and eco-nomic growth.

Philippine and Korea Labor execsrenew MOU on EPS
Despite being shaken by the global economic crunch, Koreawill continue to hire Filipino workers.
This after Labor Secretary Marianito D. Roque and his Ko-rean counterpart, Minister Lee Younghee, signed on 30 May 2009 theMemorandum of Understanding on the Employment Permit System(EPS) which could send up to 5,000 OFWs to Korea within the nextten months.
Witnessed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and SouthKorean President Lee Myung-bak, the two labor chiefs signed theMOU at the Blue House, venue of the bilateral meeting between Ar-royo and Lee.
Roque expressed elation over the agreement because de-spite the economic slowdown and the job losses among domesticemployees, Korea will continue to hire Filipino workers. This reflectsthe confidence of Korean employers in Filipino workers, Roque
averred. In a recent survey conducted by the Korea Labor Ministry,
Filipinos ranked first in terms of ability to adopt to the Korean societyand second in communication skills.
Under the new MOU, the minimum standards set by thePhilippine government, such as free accommodation, are ensuredthru the POEAs authority to review contract offers of employers. Itlikewise minimizes pre-departure cancellation of employment con-tracts and pre-termination of existing ones by disqualifying employersas well as workers with derogatory records.
Filipino workers also will continue to enjoy pension coveragepursuant to the National Pension Law and shall be entitled to equaltreatment with that of Korean workers, including minimum wage andinsurance protection.
Aside from the MOU on EPS, the two labor chiefs signed anMOU on Labor and Manpower Development which provides, amongothers, for the training of workers on-site to better prepare them fortheir eventual return to the Philippines. There will be exchanges, tooof trainers and experts and development of curricula to improve voca-tional education and training.
