Julia Morgan was born on January 20, 1872, in the town of Oakland, California.
It had always been her dream to study architecture, so she went to the University of California and studied engineering .

Education
Julia loved to visit her cousin Pierre LeBurn. She always worked with him.
Julia went to the University of California.
Julia's favorite teacher was Bernard Maybeck.
He taught math, but he also taught architecture for Julia.
She graduated in 1895 and then went back to work with her cousin Pierre.
Why She is Special
Julia Morgan completed over 700 large and small buildings in her long life.

Challenges
In 1932, Julia Morgan got a disease that caused the left side of her face to become paralyzed.
From then on it was much harder to work.

In Summer of 1919, William Randolph Hearst, a very rich and powerful newspaper publisher walked up to her and asked to have a dream. home built on top of a cliff.
It was completed in 1947. Hearst Castle still remands this very day as a museum.

Many people don't know
Julia never new Hearst until he was brought up in a conversation by his mother.
Hearst then became great friends with Julia.

Her buildings still stand
In April 1906, an earthquake fallowed by fire hit in the San Frisco Bay area and destroyed Julia's office, but all the buildings that she built still stood.
