DoD Directive 2000.19 – Joint IED Defeat
• Provides policy, responsibility and authorities for Joint IED Defeat • Conveys sense of urgency, priority and obstacle reduction• Policy, resourcing, material, technology, training, operation,information, intelligence, assessment and research• Empowers leadership to directly represent DepSecDef• Initiate, coordinate, and make recommendation for transitions to more permanent entities• Identifies tasks for Services, JCS, OSD and Combatant Commanders
– IPT membership / sub-IPT representatives– TF manning– Visibility (initiatives, BAAs, R & D, internal funding, etc.)– Coordination of Public Affairs and Congressional Liaison
• Provides decision-making and tasking authority to leadership

Focus (lead, advocate, coordinate) all Department of Defense actions in support of Combatant Commanders and their respective Joint Task Force efforts to defeat Improvised Explosive Devices as weapons of strategic influence.

JIEDD Organization Objectives FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY
• Rapidly and systematically reduce the effects of all forms of IEDs against Joint and Coalition Forces - ahead of enemy innovation
• Provide senior leaders a single point of contact for IED defeat efforts throughout the Department of Defense
• Establish a Joint Common Operational Picture (JCOP) of IEDs and their employment in the GWOT
• Provide a Joint forum to collect and synchronize all applicable efforts of Department of Defense and other agencies
• Provide senior leaders a rapid and accountable method for identifying issues requiring interservice resourcing and prioritization decisions
• Provide a Joint forum to identify IED defeat efforts and requirements to be rapidly implemented, accelerated or developed in the long term
• Provide a forum for Interservice, Interagency, Industry and International coordination of IED Defeat
