Cosmic Extensionalism “X”
Cosmic Extensionalism or Cosmic X”is a new style of Art which was originallyfounded by Jack Armstrong in 1999. Armstrong was inspired by an etherealexperience he had with the famous gemstone known as the Black Star Sapphireof Queensland. The stone is believed tohave magical powers. At the time hedestroyed all of his previous works.
Cosmic X is a genre of modern art stylesas is the famous genres of "Cubism" byPicasso or "Pop Art” by Warhol. It wasoriginally founded as an organic artmovement and is singular by comparison.
Cosmic X requires the artist to becomethe art they are creating, by feeling noseparation between the art itself. Thisrequires a unique state of mind to bereached, connecting to a universalpresence, which Armstrong believesexists in each being. It is this connectionthat “creates the art, not the artist."
Each acrylic on canvas painting ismulti-layered but also includes hispersonal touch. Armstrong’s hair, fingerprints and DNA are present in allof his paintings.
What is so appealing about the creativeworks of Cosmic artist Jack Armstrong,is the limited number of his paintings. There are only 100 paintings in existence.
Jack also knew and worked with AndyWarhol. In 2001, he painted “WarholNaked.” This incredible piece of art is atouching tribute to his friend Andy. Jack has stated that one the proudestmoments in his life was being dubbed “The Last Wizard of art” by Warholhimself.
