An IntroductionJACQUELINE TRICKER

My name is Jacquie Tricker. I live in Wareham, Massachusetts

with my husband Tom, our fourteen year old son Andrew

and our dog Max.

I am originally from Rhode Island but lived in Indiana (by

way of college) for a large portion of my adult life.

Although I miss my Midwest family and friends, I am happy to be back on the East Coast. The Tricker Family

I am and have been a special education teacher throughout my twenty-one year career. Although I have held a variety of responsibilities and worked with various grade levels within that assignment, I have always had the joy of working with first grade students. There is nothing in the world like a first grader. The excitement and wonder that they bring as they explore learning continues to remind me how education should be.

My first fourteen years of teaching were in a very small school in Laketon, Indiana. After a move back home to the East Coast and some time off for caring for my family, I obtained a special education teaching position where I continue to teach today.

I currently work with first grade special needs students in both the inclusion and pull out settings. In addition, I have had the rewarding opportunity to work with students thought the RTI process this year . The John W. Decas School in Wareham is about one mile from my home and is the elementary school that my son attended. I am invested in our school not only as a professional but also as a parent and member of this community.

This is my first course in the program. To say that I am anxious and apprehensive about beginning a new

undertaking would be an understatement. Although I am nervous, I am excited about learning and developing my

skills in order to give my best to my students.

Anxious me, but I’ll get over it.

My happiest times are simple times with my family and friends especially when we are at the beach.
