In Malaysia FM is an emerging discipline
FM has always been practised to some extent by
organisations, yet only recently it has emerged as a
discipline
FM is the emerging discipline that has replaced fragmented
responsibility and decision making with centralized management
Lack of public awareness
• FM definition not clearly established in the Malaysian context
• FM services scope of work not determined by any institution
• FM needs and benefits not appreciated by clients/owners / public
Every local authority has a unique asset
management system base on their building
portfolio and public facilities and also their
financial capability.
