Thesis:Doug Sweetland is a very

talented animator and director at Pixar.

Life At Pixar:

Doug joined Pixar in 1994, where his first assignment was as an animator on Toy

Story.

Life At Pixar Cont:

After Toy Story, Doug went on to be an animator for A Bug’s Life and then Toy Story 2 (for which he was nominated for

an Annie Award for Outstanding Individual

Achievement for Character Animation).

Life At Pixar Cont:

Doug won back to back Annie Awards for Outstanding

Individual Achievement for Character Animation for

Monsters, Inc. and Finding Nemo.

Life at Pixar Cont:

Doug was lead animator for Bud Luckey’s Oscar

nominated short Boundin’.

Life At Pixar Cont:

Doug was an storyboard artist and animator on the Oscar

winning movie The Incredibles.

Life At Pixar Cont:

Doug then went on to be the supervising animator for John

Lasseter’s Cars.

Life At Pixar Cont:

Afterwards, Doug went on to pitch an animated short in 2007 about a sympathetic

magician who is dumped by his rabbit. This eventually became Presto (which, in

2008, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best

Animated Short Film).

It was reported in 2010 the Sweetland had been hired by Sony Pictures Animation to

direct The Familiars (release date in 2014).

Currently Cont:

It was reported in January of 2013 that Warner Bros. is developing an animated

feature called Storks (release date for 2015) which

Sweetland is set to direct.

Even with this report, Sony said that The Familiars is still

on.
