These Blackline Masters can be completed in a variety of ways. The activities are designed to be stimulating, crafty and fun! They range from simple colouring to more complex artworks depending on your requirements – it’s up to you! They will equip children with important skills like colouring, cutting, gluing, folding, constructing and creative thinking. Below are some hints and tips for each activity to help you get the most out of your Blackline Masters.
All About India
Indian Elephant Colouring Sheet
Ask students to colour and decorate their sheet for a quick and
easy craft activity. Further decorate with glitter, sequins and
rhinestones. Remember these sheets can be enlarged or reduced on
a photocopier according to your requirements. You could make a
large A3 poster for group decorating.
India Symbols
Scissors will be required to complete this activity. For best results,
copy the Blackline Master onto cover paper. Discuss the
Indian symbols. Ask students to colour and decorate their
sheet. These shapes can be used as decorations or embellishments.
Remember these sheets can be enlarged or reduced on a
photocopier according to your requirements.
Indian Festival Party InvitationDiscuss different types of Indian Festivals with students. Ask students to
imagine they were throwing an Indian Festival Party. For a quick and
easy craft activity have students fill in, colour and decorate their
invitation.
Construct-a-PeacockStart by discussing and researching peacocks in India eg. What
is their significance to India? Scissors and glue will be required to
complete this activity. For best results, copy the Blackline Master
onto cover paper. Ask students to colour and decorate their sheet.
Alternatively copy the Blackline Master onto coloured cover paper.
Cut out the peacock. Concertina fold the peacock feathers and
staple in the middle. Open out the feathers and glue or tape the
body of the peacock to the feathers.
Rangoli
Discuss and research traditional Indian Rangoli patterns. Ask students
to colour and decorate their sheet for a quick and easy craft
activity. Remember these sheets can be enlarged or reduced
on a photocopier according to your requirements. You could
even photocopy onto a plastic sheet and project (with overhead
projector) the image onto display paper fixed to a wall for students
to trace and do a large scale painting!
Design Your Own Snakes and Ladders
Snakes and Ladders is an Ancient Indian board game! Ask students
to research Snakes and Ladders to see if they can find out any more
interesting facts about the game. For best results, copy the Blackline
Master onto cover paper. Ask students to design their own Snakes
and Ladders board game, decorate and then play against their
classmates around the room!
Taj Mahal Colouring Sheet
Ask students to colour and decorate their sheet for a quick and easy
craft activity. Remember these sheets can be enlarged or reduced
on a photocopier according to your requirements. You could make
a large A3 poster for group decorating. You could even photocopy
onto a plastic sheet and project (with overhead projector) the
image onto display paper fixed to a wall for students to trace and
do a large scale painting!
Tiger Mask
Scissors, glue and a range of collage materials will be required to
complete this activity. For best results, copy the Blackline Master
onto cover paper. Ask students to decorate the tiger face. The tiger
can be used in many different ways - punch holes in both sides of
the head and attach elastic to make a mask, glue a large popstick
to the bottom of the face to make a hand held mask or tiger fan or
make a giant tiger by gluing a paper plate to the back of the mask.
Mehndi Hands (Henna)
Scissors will be required to complete this activity. For best results,
copy the Blackline Master onto cover paper. Start by discussing and researching Mehndi (Henna) and what it is traditionally used
for. Ask students to colour and decorate the patterned version for
a quick and easy craft activity. They can then cut out their Mehndi
hand and use for a class display. Alternatively use the blank hand to
extend the activity. Have students design their own Mehndi pattern
on the blank hand. Remember these sheets can be enlarged or
reduced on a photocopier according to your requirements.
Indian Flag
Discuss and show pictures of the Indian flag. Ask students to colour
and decorate their flag. For a collage effect scrunch up small pieces
of crepe or tissue paper and glue to the flag for a tactile effect.
