In the spring of 2000, we began creating our schoolyard habitat.

The area we chose was just a grassy place in the schoolyard.

White Rock donated large slabs of rock and students broke the rocks into smaller pieces.

The rock was used to build a wall around our future pond and to border the gardens.

Students worked hardthat spring.

The garden was planted and mulched and the pond area was filled with topsoil.

Our hard work paid off.

Our garden was beautiful!

Work began anew in the Fall of 2000.

Compost bins were added to the habitat.

Leaves were raked and decorations made.

Our garden was beautiful!

Feeding the birds and filling the compost bins keeps us busy in the winter.

We installed the pond that spring.

…and a sand pit to track animals.

White Rock donated a tri-axle load of gravel for paths and work areas.

It was hard work spreading the rock!

After a lot of hard work, our garden was beautiful again!

When we came back to school at the end of the summer, there was more work to do!

Even grandparents helped!!

Soon our garden was beautiful again!

The PTO added a pavilion to our habitat and we had a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The PTO also sold bricks for a walkway from the pavilion to the habitat.

We are proud of our habitat and we hope you enjoyed the show!!!!
