Programa seccions europees

(European Sections Programme)*

●It’s a programme which consists on the learning of a Second Language teaching a subject in a second language.

●CLIL methodology (Contents and language integrated learning) “learning by construction rather than learning by

instruction”

What’s An European Section In A Secondary School?

●Our school started the programme in 2005-06 in the 1st cycle of ESO.

●Ever since then the results have been enriching both for pupils and teachers that have participated in the programme

●We are continuing the project next this year in all levels:● - 1st ESO Music

● - 2nd ESO Theatre●- 3rd ESO Arts●- 4th ESO Arts

When did we start?

●Widen our student’s English knowledge and make the student believe he / she can use the 2nd language independently. Stimulate their curiosity!

●Learn the contents of the subject area●Make pupils realize how important the learning of English is in our

society.

What are our objectives?

●Practical resources – the 4 language learning skills are used (speaking, listening, writing, reading)

●We work on projects●Dynamic lessons that stimulate class participation

●We usually have an English language assistant 1 hour per week and per group. S/he collaborates with the teacher to carry out speaking activities in the classroom. This year, this assistant

also works in another school, so she can work only with the groups included in the European sections programme.

How do we teach?

●It is voluntary, although not everyone is accepted, students need to be good at languages (language competence)

●Possibility of taking new students after the first term (and vice versa) depending on the difficulties or abilities of pupils

Who joins the programme?
