HOW TO LOSE YOUR SOUL

The undergarment of Jesus is a seamless, long cassock-shaped coat “…woven in one piece from top to bottom…” (John 19:23) incredibly valuable, for it’s the same undergarment traditionally worn by high priests and Hebrew notables such as Moses

And so we’re not going to tear this garment into pieces, the solders declare; we’re going to “…decide by lot who [gets this treasure]” (John 19:24); translated: we’re going to gamble a bit – we’re going to roll some dice – to decide who gets this beauty.

Acknowledge How Tempting, How Attractive Worldly

Treasure Can Be

Fess-up the Word of God admonishes: why “we’re all sin-infected, sin-contaminated. Our best efforts are grease-stained rags. We dry up like autumn leaves—sin-dried, we’re blown off by the wind…” (Isaiah 64:6, The Message)

Anticipate Power, Superior Power, Through Our High

Priest: Jesus.

“In the past God spoke…through… prophets…but [now] he has spoken by his Son…[why] the Son is the radiance of God’s glory…sustaining all things by his powerful word… [sitting down, as the ultimate High Priest] at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven…” (Hebrews 1:1-4). “Therefore…fix your thoughts on Jesus, [our] apostle and high priest… [who we are called to] confess…” (Hebrews 3:1).

For “…I have not spoken in secret” God declares. I [have given my people] “…a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people and I will be their God…” (Jeremiah 24:7)

Don’t Just See The Seamless Robe Of Jesus,

Put On The Seamless Robe Of Jesus.

We’re to put on the robe of Christ, putting-on the things of Christ (Ephesians 4:22-32), clothing ourselves “…with the Lord Jesus Christ…” (Romans 13:14) with “…compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. [Bearing] with one another and [forgiving] whatever grievances [we] have against each other. [And so] forgive as the Lord forgave you…” (Colossians 3:12-14).

“Father forgive them for they know not what they do…” (Luke 23:34)

Clothe yourselves with “…compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness…patience…[forgiving] as the Lord forgave you…” (Colossians 3:12-14).

“In the past God spoke…through… prophets…but [now] he has spoken by his Son…[and] the Son is the radiance of God’s glory…sustaining all things by his powerful word…[sitting down, as the ultimate High Priest] at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven…” (Hebrews 1:1-4).

“Therefore…fix your thoughts on Jesus…” (Hebrews 3:1)
