The Hooka Point Reserve Bushcare Group’s goal is to rehabilitate the section of Hooka Point that is community land, with specific emphasis on improving the health and habitat value of the two Endangered Ecological Communities present 1/ Saltmarsh 2/ Swamp Oak Floodplain Forest
1. Keep the saltmarsh weed free 2. Increase the weed free margin on the inland edge of the saltmarsh at the
mouth of Hooka Creek 3. Assist Council & Illawarra Noxious Weed Authority to monitor and remove
WONS weed Nassella neesiana (Chilean Needle grass), and emerging weeds Schinus terebinthifolia (Brazilian Pepper tree) and Baccharis halimifolia (Groundsel Bush)
4. Contain woody weeds near the water edge of Hooka Ck and Lake Illawarra to habitat corridors
5. Limit annual seeding of Moth Vine and White Passion Flower
