My hometown :

Segamat, Johor

Located in the north of the state of Johor in Malaysia, bordering two other states of Malaysia.

Strategically situated between Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Singapore

Area: 2,825.4 km² Population: - Year 1991 : 178,000 - Year 2010 :270,000

It represents the amount of biologically productive land and sea area necessary to supply the resources a human population consumes, and to assimilate associated waste.

Rich in resources and well managed its waste, so Segamat is sustainable in eco-footprint

Ecological footprint

From Air Pollutant Index management System (APIMS)

AQI at segamat :33

Air quality

i. Agriculture = 61.8% (oil palm and rubber district)

ii. Manufacturing = 13.1%

iii. government service sector = 12.2%

Economy

Have many small businesses or shops at Segamat.

But, lack in professional employment for example consultancy.

Yet, it can be consider sustainable employment because small percentage for a jobless

well-linked by both federal and state road networks.

Transportation

There are three main intercity bus lines that serve the Segamat District:-

i. Yow Hoe (Gemas-Ayer Hitam)

ii. North-West Johor (Segamat-Muar)

iii. Kenderaan Bas MARA DARA (Segamat-Muadzam Shah)

Segamat District is also served by the national railway system at Segamat and Labis train stations.

Food

Flood : Year 1950s, 1984 and in 18 December 2006 .

Year 2006, which was caused by Typhoo Utor in the Philippines, the worst flood to have happened in Segamat and Johor.

Now : every year, severe flooding occurred in Segamat
