Home improvement show featuring Troy couple coming toHGTV

TROY, AL (WSFA) -

Troy residents Shaunna and Matt West have been keeping a secret and were finally able to make the"most unbelievable, craziest announcement ever" Thursday.

The couple has been filming a homeimprovement show since the fall, and apilot will be airing on HGTV thisweekend.

HGTV described the pair as "theAlabama restoration dream team.""Sweet House Alabama" followsShaunna and Matt as they "help acouple house hunt for that diamond inthe rough property, peel away it'shistoric grandeur and restore to itsstunning, original beauty, all withinbudget."

"You're going to see us turn a lot of old things into new things. You're going to see lots of goofinessbecause we're pretty casual around here. But you're going to hopefully learn a lot. You'll see us kindof take older pieces and transform them and of course with the pilot we do that with a house,"Shaunna said.

Shaunna says she never fathomed something like this would happen. The couple started writingabout their home renovations and restoration projects on their blog perfectlyimperfectblog.com in2009.

They eventually opened an online store, then a store in downtown Troy, also called PerfectlyImperfect, and most recently another store in Opelika. Much to their surprise, a casting director inNew York contacted them about filming the home improvement show.

"After talking about it and praying about it and weighing our options, Matt and I decided to go for it.We knew it was totally a long shot, and decided we'd just treat it as a fun experience," Shaunnawrote in a blog post Thursday. "If it worked out, great. If not, then we would go on about ourbusiness and keep doing our thing."

Shaunna couldn't say exactly what's in store for the future or if we should expect more episodes, butsays it's been a fun experience and they're excited to continue to grow from here.

The pilot airs Sunday at 1 p.m.
